Manual Handling:

Sprains and strains, there is an increase in this area, generally brought about by the end of financial year push.

  • Awkward posture when stooping over and lifting a heavy item 
  • Trying to stop a heavy item from falling
  • Trying to move a wedged-in stock item off the shelf 

 

Contusion / Bruise / Fracture:

  • 2 x (separate injuries) Broken fingers by exerting excessive force with a hammer in an awkward posture. Each time the hammer struck the hand and fractured a finger.
  • Contusion to head whilst getting out from under equipment.   

 

Slips / Trips / Falls:

  • House Keeping, House Keeping, House Keeping is the keyto stop these types of injuries from occurring.
  • Twisting ankle from a dispensed tape roll, the tape roll should have been in the waste bin. 
  • Tripping over an item in work bay area.   
  • Slipping on a wet surface, boot tread was non-existent, no grip.
