Smile Squad returns to Kalinda

The Smile Squad team from EACH are coming to our school from Monday 25th November 2024. Smile Squad is the Victorian Government free school dental program.

This means all students can get a free dental check-up, preventive services, and treatment at school.

Please complete and submit the consent form, this will be sent directly to EACH.

Paper copies of the consent form are available. Please contact the school office if you would like to request one. The electronic consent form can be translated into more than 100 languages, and the paper form is available in 13 languages.

Smile Squad dental packs

All children deserve a healthy smile, and the Smile Squad free school dental program is working hard to help make sure this happens.

Your child(ren) will soon receive a free dental pack to bring home. The dental pack contains a toothbrush, full sized toothpaste, and an oral health brochure. Please take the time to read the brochure. It’s full of helpful hints and tips to help your whole family eat well, drink well and clean well – for life.

Smile Squad provides standard-strength fluoride toothpaste that is generally used by ages six and over, unless recommended by a dental or trained health professional. If your child is under six, please talk to a dental or trained health professional to find out if your child might benefit from using this toothpaste. You can also choose to put the toothpaste away until they turn six or give it to someone else in your family to use.

Do I need to attend my child’s appointment?

No, you do not need to attend your child’s appointment. You can attend if you would like to, and you can take your child to the community dental clinic if you prefer.

EACH Smile Squad look forward to seeing you soon.

All Kalinda Students will receive a free drink bottle from Smile Squad.

Preparing for 2025

We are pleased to inform you that the Parent Payment Arrangements for 2025 are now available on COMPASS. You can find the link above your Newsfeed upon logging in.

For comprehensive details on the Parent Payment Arrangements, please visit our website through this link: https://www.kalinda.vic.edu.au/page/112/Parent-Payments-2025. Starting from Friday, 25th October, you can order the required stationery items online from Ross Office Supplies. The list of items is included on the final page of each year level’s Parent Payment Letter.

Please ensure your orders are placed by 20th December 2024 to meet the delivery deadline.

Use the school code KALPRI25 when ordering. Here’s a guide on how to order online with Ross Office Supplies: https://booklist.officebrands.com.au/croydon/.

  • You do not have to use this supplier if you do not want to, but they have been chosen for the best value for money, and meeting the criteria for quality and what teachers found the best for their students.
  • This year, the list can be altered live, and online. eg, if you already have scissors for your child, you can remove them from the list.
  • Please name everything before bringing it to school. You may store any extra stationery at home so it doesn't get lost or wasted.
  • Packs will be delivered to school before school starts and be available for pick up then.

Are your details up to date?

As mentioned on the School Bonus Page, student enrolment form details have been emailed to all families to ensure all details are current and correct. If the details are current and correct, families do not need to do anything with the email. If there is an error, or item that needs to be updated or changed, you can email the changes, or print and write the changes in, and return them to the office this way. This will ensure details are correct in the case of emergency and for School bonus emails. Thank you for your assistance with this.

Another thing we recommend is to save the school phone number and mobile in your contacts. This way, if we ever need to contact you, you can see that we have called, and it's not just a random phone number.

Kalinda Primary School's main number is 9876 3289

Kalinda Primary School's mobile is 0429 871 758 (this number is only monitored in the event of a phone outage or excursions/camps).

You can also save the email address to ensure emails do not enter your junk folder -

kalinda.ps@education.vic.gov.au

You can email teachers directly through Compass, under your child's profile.

Second hand Uniform Sale is coming

The items will be offered to  2025 Foundation families, and current Kalinda Primary School families. Items will be a gold coin donation, and it will be first in, best dressed.

Watch this space for more information - It is planned for Friday 8th November, our second transition session for future Foundation students.

Payment plans and different payment options

Do you ever find that Compass doesn’t cater for the payment option that would suit your family?  If this is the case, please get in touch with us and let us know via a confidential email to kalinda.ps@education.vic.gov.au.

There are lots of different payment options available, but Compass limits us to offering one option to all families.  If paying for an event over several weeks, or in smaller payments, suits your circumstances better, we are happy to make this available to you.

For further information please feel free to contact the office on 9876 3289, or by email to kalinda.ps@education.vic.gov.au asking to speak to Jen or Melissa in Finance. All finance and administration matters are strictly confidential, and we are happy to help in any way we can.
