Assistant Principal's report

Foundation transition

We were so proud last week to welcome parents and children to begin their exciting journey as the Foundation Class of 2025. Children and parents arrived full of excitement, anticipation and nerves and showed great resilience and good humour trying the new experiences that school has to offer. We were very proud of everyone for their bravery - especially the Foundation teachers!

It was really lovely for Mr McClare and I to welcome parents for a meet and greet, cuppa and chat with other members of the community. We were able to get to know new and old parents alike, introduce ourselves, and also share some tips and tricks for using our Compass platform when entering student attendance, excursion permissions, reports and more. A big thank you to Annie who joined the group to help anyone looking for assistance logging into their Compass account.

This Friday, we will again be inviting parents to join us for a cuppa, and this time welcoming Foundation Team Leader Natasha Weekes who will be sharing her thoughts on the best ways to prepare our future learners.

Colour Splatacular!

Last Friday afternoon, our community came together for what can only be described as an explosion of joy. Whilst fundraising for the school was a huge success, the real winner was our feeling of belonging and fun. From the parents and friends who worked hard perfecting every detail (how did you even time the sun to come out right at 2pm?), the volunteers who had (a little too much) fun covering us in colour, to the students who showed bravery trying something new and unexpected - everyone had something to be proud of.

Some brave staff and I agreed to leave our dignity at the door and offer ourselves up to be 'slimed' by some lucky students. Names of students were drawn from a hat and the excitement of those chosen to 'get' us was hilarious, if not slightly alarming. Some of us may still be washing fetching pink streaks from their hair, but we secretly enjoyed being humiliated in the most loving way - especially in the name of fundraising for our great school. Thank you for the opportunity! (And sidenote: Ari P and Aria C....you are needed in the Assistant Principal's office ASAP, my washing machine and I would like a word!)

Parent Helper Morning Tea

I hope that many of our amazing helpers are able to join us as Kalinda staff say 'thanks for everything you do'!

Take care Kalinda, you matter to me.
