At Armidale Secondary College, we are proud to remember and honour the traditions of Remembrance Day. On the 11th of November at the eleventh hour, we paused to stand together and join all Australians for a one-minute silence. We reflected on the sacrifices made by those who have served our country in all wars, conflicts, and peacekeeping operations. Lest we forget.
We are bursting with pride, and we celebrate the trailblazing success of our students. Our assembly this week was an opportunity to showcase talents which was led by our student captains who have taken very easily to strong and inspiring leadership in the school. We acknowledged our house captains and ushered in new traditions set by our outgoing leaders, where new house groups foster school culture and camaraderie.
This week, we had the pleasure of a beautiful performance at our assembly by our very own Side by Side Choir, who recently featured in "New England Sings". They were joined and supported by their peers from the ASC Choir as they sang a heartfelt song commissioned especially for them for New England Sings by the talented Warwick Dunham, who also accompanied them on piano. Their passionate voices and moving lyrics about Armidale as their home and their connection to our community brought a tear to many eyes and left a lasting impression to everyone present.
A special congratulations goes to Nya Quinlan, who has been awarded a scholarship with the Australian Business and Community Network (ABCN) Program. This is a remarkable achievement, reflecting her strong academic potential, leadership qualities, and commitment to personal and professional growth. Well done, Nya!
As you may have seen proudly displayed on our boards, ASC students had the opportunity they will have to work with industry experts to develop their innovative ideas as part of the Game Changer Challenge. They made it to the GRAND FINAL! This year's challenge question was to 'Make life better for all without harming the planet'. Our students did an incredible job of pitching their idea to create an online emergency room to reduce the impact of limited availability of doctors in rural areas. The game changer has been a great opportunity for them to enhance their problem-solving skills and to help the community in the process.
As always, there is so much more to celebrate. To stay up-to-date with all of the incredible achievements at ASC, be sure to follow our social media page. Thank you all for a wonderful year Armidale Secondary College Community – I have loved every minute.
