Graduate Outcome Awards

Last week we celebrated students who displayed the Graduate Outcome of WISDOM. These students received a Graduate Outcome Award.

Students who graduate from St Therese’s Primary School are people of WISDOM, who strive to achieve their full potential through a love of learning.

For the next few weeks, staff will continue to be on the lookout for students who display the Graduate Outcome of HOPE.

WBBL Cricket Excursion

On Friday 8th November, the Middle 3 & 4 units went to CitiPower Centre in St. Kilda to watch a WBBL match between the Melbourne Stars and Sydney Sixes. Here are a few recounts from the students:

"On Friday, it was one of the best school days EVER! We got scrunchies, flags, signs, posters and badges too! My favourite part was when the camera-man came around and we got to go on the big cricket screen that was on the whole ground. We got to go on the field and meet the mascots and play rock, paper, scissors with them! Some of my friends got to go onto the field and meet the players to get their caps signed! It was so much fun, thank you for organising it Mrs. Woods! The best excursion EVER!"  Ruby H (M4 James)

"My favourite part of the cricket was involvement. Not only did we just watch it, we got to go on the field and play games, get free merch and some lucky students got to meet the players! I've never been so entertained while watching a sport! Being able to go with friends and teachers makes me feel super lucky and safe. So yes, great time indeed!"  Issy B (M4 James)

"We went on the bus at 7:10 am and we got there at 9:30 am. We sat on the hill. I enjoyed cheering for the Melbourne Stars with my friends Freddie, Luke and Lucas. It started raining at the Junction so we moved in the stand. We continued cheering. I had to leave at the 16th over because I was going to be on TV. Me and Indi and other people were also going to be on TV. I got a hat and t-shirt and a sharpie. I got my hat signed. We had to give the sharpie back but I got to keep the hat and t-shirt. When I got back I cheered loudly but unfortunately the Sixers won on DLS Method (Duckworth Lewis Method). I would love to come back again"  Francis C (M4 James)

"On Friday morning at 7:00am we left to go to CitiPower Centre in Melbourne. It took us two hours to get there. When we got there we lined up with some other schools, waiting to get in to the ground to watch the Sydney Sixers vs the Melbourne Stars.

We got into the ground and sat down to watch the players warm up for a bit. Then we lined up against the fence and the cameraman filmed us waiting to go onto the pitch to do the Mascot Challenge. We went onto the field and got a green Melbourne Stars ball and picked a partner to do some activities.

The captains did the bat flip and the Sixes won so they chose to bowl first and the Stars were batting first. We got lots of merch like flags, scrunchies and signs and then we started to watch the game.

Some students were chosen to go onto the field and meet the players at the start of the game and at halftime. They got a t-shirt and a cap signed by one of the players. It started to rain so we had to move into the grandstands to watch the rest of the game. It was a better view!

The Sixes won by DLS because the game got called off due to the rain.

On the bus ride home we were all exhausted but had the best time ever! Go Stars and Sixers! We want to say a big thank you to Mrs. Woods for organising the awesome day."

Katrina Nannestad, Author Visit

We had a wonderful session recently, listening to Katrina Nannestad speak about the process she goes through to create a historical novel. Plus we found out where she got her inspiration from!

Many students purchased a book from the Pop-Up Bookish Shop and had it signed by Katrina.

Grace Grogan even caught up with Katrina, her Grade 4 teacher!

Katrina was impressed to read some of the stories written by Senior 5

students and hear their feedback about her books as well as their thoughtful questions.
