Grade 2 Report

The children in Grade 2 have been enjoying their final term of the year and are engaging in lots of fun learning.

In Reading we have been doing activities to develop our comprehension skills, including identifying inferred character traits.  We have also been really focussed on developing our kindness and gratitude skills and have set up classroom kindness walls and gratitude trees.

In our Literature unit, we are travelling around Australia with Alison Lester’s wonderful picture book “Are We There Yet” and doing heaps of great activities as we go. This book also ties in with our Geography unit “Me on a Map”, in which the students explore significant places in their world, including learning about the geography of the Earth: the continents, oceans, Australia, Victoria and our local area.  The students have also used this learning to prepare a “mini” Speaking and Listening presentation about where their parents and grandparents were born.

We have such a huge range of family stories in Grade 2 and it has been wonderful to hear all about the interesting backgrounds of the students!  As if this isn’t enough, the students have also been hard at work preparing their Australian States PowerPoint presentations, which they will be sharing with their parents later in the term.
