Grade 1 Report
Last Thursday morning, the Prep students enjoyed visiting the Grade 1 classrooms. They listened to a story called ‘Big Red Kangaroo’, made kangaroo crowns and completed some mindfulness colouring. Grade 1 have loved having the Grade Preps come into their classrooms, everyone had a fabulous time!
“I really liked helping my buddy cut out her kangaroo crown and it made me feel
happy to help Sasha.” Gilly
“It was fun working with my buddy Levi. We were already friends, and we had
a good time making the kangaroo crown together.” Perry
“My buddy felt happy that I helped her cut out her kangaroo because
it was a bit hard to do. I felt like a teacher, and it felt great.” Pippa
As part of our Grade 1 Transition to Grade 2, the students joined the Grade 2 and Grade 3 children at the Senior School at lunchtime to play. This gave them the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the Senior School campus. They all had a wonderful experience and are looking forward to playing up at the Senior School again next Friday. After the students returned to the Junior school, they were asked to write down what they enjoyed. These were a few of their responses.
“I loved playing gymnastics on the big oval with my family
friend Maya who is in Grade 3.” Riley
“It was unbelievable, I had so much fun because my sister was there.” Cora
“My favourite thing about the Senior School was how the playground
had different monkey bars to swing on.” Jayce
“Going down the red slide was the best thing to do at the playground.” Victoria
Towards the end of the term, the Grade 1 children will be given the opportunity to complete some activities in a Grade 2 classroom and attend an information session to ask any questions they may have about moving to Grade 2.
