EXPLORING FAUVISM

During Semester 2, Year 10 Studio Arts students have been exploring Fauvism which was an 19th century art movement that focused on bright, contrasting colour.

Students were given the theme of portraiture to explore as a starting point for subject matter and they were encouraged to find inspiration from those original artists developed Fauvism such as Henri Matisse and Georges Braque.

Using a range of contrasting, bright acrylic paint, students developed a number of outstanding compositions with a definite Fauvist flavour!
