Year 8 Creswick Camp
Our first day at Camp Creswick was an amazing experience filled with adventure and excitement. The fresh air and natural surroundings set the perfect tone for the day. We started with a hike through the woods, where I got to see beautiful scenery and wildlife along the way. The team-building activities brought everyone together, and I made some new friends while working on challenges that tested both our strength and creativity. In the evening, we gathered around a campfire, sharing stories and roasting marshmallows under the stars. The sense of camaraderie and fun made it a day to remember, and I can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
Day two of Log Cabin Camp was filled with adventure and teamwork! Students took on the dual zip line challenge, where they paired up for an exhilarating ride and tested their coordination with a partnered ball throw. The milk crate stacking activity pushed everyone to communicate and work together as they balanced and built their way up. Each activity brought out the best in our students, fostering trust, cooperation, and problem-solving skills. It’s been incredible to see everyone encouraging each other and building stronger bonds through these challenges!
On our final day at Log Cabin Camp in Creswick, students wrapped up their adventure with exciting activities that tested their courage and skill. All students took on the Leap of Faith, pushing themselves to jump from a high platform and reach for a suspended target, building confidence with each attempt. Others tried their hand at archery, focusing carefully on aiming and precision as they aimed for the bullseye. The day concluded with the gigantic tree climb, where students challenged their limits, scaling a massive tree and celebrating each milestone reached. It was a memorable day full of teamwork, encouragement, and personal triumphs.
Cheers Joey
Hello, my name is Jess, and I’m a Year 8 student who participated in the Log Cabin Camp in Creswick.
It was so much fun! We did lots of activities, but the first thing we had to face was our roommates. I know it’s fun to have everyone in the room talking, eating, and chatting about everything, but having too many people sleeping together isn’t that great. So, I decided to separate them. Some people got mad at me, but I didn’t mind because I was there to have fun, not to get upset about anything, so I just "let it go!"
After that, we had some free time to relax and have fun. Then we went outside to meet the ponies. They were so cute, but a little lazy. The only thing they wanted was apples! Afterward, we did some outdoor activities. Since it was the first day, I was a bit scared, but it wasn’t as scary as I thought.
Later, we returned and had afternoon tea, then had some time to chat and rest. At around 3 p.m., we went outside to the Hut Building, which was fun. The funniest part was when Joey, our coordinator, sprayed water on us, and I got wet. It was so much fun, and I enjoyed it!
After having fun, we returned and had dinner. I had chicken schnitzel with potatoes, carrots, and broccoli, which I really enjoyed. The next part was dessert: we had a small piece of chocolate cake with ice cream on the side, which I really enjoyed too. After dinner, we had about a 30-minute break before going on a bush walk. It was okay, but I wasn’t too fond of the bugs, and I think that’s why I felt very itchy from the bites. We walked for about 40 minutes before returning for a campfire with Billy tea and damper. The damper was good, but it would have tasted better with butter and jam. We also bought marshmallows because it’s a campfire, and marshmallows are a must.
Afterward, we went back to our cabin and had a big pillow fight with our teacher, which
was so much fun! Then we returned to our room, played some games, ate snacks, and went to bed very late. That was our first day at camp.
On day 2 at camp, I woke up at about half past 7, I had cereal for breakfast and then got ready for the activities. First, we went for a Duel Zipline, I thought that was scary but not bad. I think I did it about 8 times and I still loved it. We got back and had morning tea then the next activity was crazy. It was a two-person leap of faith, I kept telling myself that I couldn’t do it, I was too scared for that, but then I wanted to try. I actually couldn’t believe that I had done it. I got stuck but my friends, they were so nice, they cheered me on, so I did it. I don’t think I could have done it without them. Next is the Milk Crate Stacking, my team and I did it very well but then I dropped the crate, so we lost, but at least, it was really fun and not as scary as I thought. Then we returned back for lunch, I got the wrap for lunch which was very nice. We had a break then we went Orienteering, and I did not like it because I couldn’t find anything, it was sad but at least I tried something new. The last activity for today was the Giant Swing, which was crazy, I couldn’t breathe when it went down but it was fun so I hope I can do it again one day. We got back for dinner and had a movie night and enjoyed our last night at camp which made me very sad, I wanted to stay longer.
On day 3 at camp, which was our last day, I had toast for breakfast and then got ready for some activities. First, we did the climbing tree, which I couldn’t do. I was so scared, but it was not as scary as the Giant Swing, which still scared me. Archery was our last activity at camp. It wasn’t as much fun as I thought. Then we returned back for lunch. We had a hamburger with some potato wedges for the last day, it was very nice. Then we got back to school. Camp was fun. I did learn a lot of new things and reduced my stress having more time with my friends.
Thanks to Mr Tuncer, Mr Sgambati and Ms Milicic for organising this camp.
