Library News
The wait is over for two exciting reading related matters! The first exciting bit of news is that The National Simultaneous Storytime book for 2025 has been announced and it is……..(drum roll)…
‘The Truck Cat’ written by Deborah Frenkel and illustrated by Danny Snell.
Here is a little bit about the book we will ALL be reading on Wednesday 21 May 2025:
Some cats are house cats. Some are apartment cats. But Tinka is a truck cat. Tinka lives everywhere. Along with his human, Yacoub, Tinka travels roads wide and narrow, near and distant. But no matter how much they travel, home feels very far away – for both of them. Yacoub drives his truck to make a living, learning the landscape of a new country along the way, and longing for connection. When Tinka and Yacoub are unexpectedly separated, they are determined to find their way back to each other – and, in doing so, might find more than they expected …
This book will be arriving in our school library when it is released. I’m excited to share this book with my rescue cat, Elaine Benes, who loves story time of an evening. Her favourite pastime is eating cardboard boxes and she can’t be persuaded to just hide in them. The story My Cat Likes To Hide In Boxes has only encouraged her to eat more boxes!
Hopefully this new book about a cat living in a truck will inspire her to sleep less and adventure more.
The second exciting announcement is that our Premiers’ Reading Challenge certificates have arrived and they will be handed out at assembly on Friday. Well done to everyone that participated. The challenge will return next year for more reading fun.
We have a fun, spooky book section ready for any fans of Halloween. Witch book will you pick to read this Halloween? There’s also a ghost that never reads in our school library, they prefer to boo-rowse.
And finally, a student enters the school library and asks for a book on cliffhangers. The librarian says: ........................................................
