Principal's Report
TRANSITION FROM KINDER TO PREP
Our Pre-Schooler Program has been running successfully at both campuses early in term 4 for many years and provides an excellent opportunity for students to become familiar and comfortable with the primary school environment.
The Pre-Schooler Program for 2024 started last week and it was lovely to host an excited, although slightly nervous, cohort of kinder kids (and parents) at both campuses. The children were remarkably settled, and no doubt will feel more comfortable and confident in the school environment as the program continues.
GRADE 2 SLEEPOVER
We had some very tired students (and staff) at school last Friday after a successful sleepover on Thursday night. It was fabulous to see the kids embrace the experience, even those that were anxious and were potentially spending their first night away from mum and dad. They all enjoyed a few activities, before getting into their pyjamas and settling in to watch a movie. Then it was time to settle into bed and go to sleep. Overall, it was very calm, and the kids handled the situation beautifully.
Well done to the staff for running such a successful event and making all the kids feel so comfortable. And a big thankyou to the parents that stayed and provided valuable support across the night.
ENERGY BREAKTHROUGH (EBT) BBQ
Last Saturday we held a BBQ at the Bunnings in Delacombe to raise funds to support this year’s EBT campaign. Thanks to the staff and parents that helped out. We had a steady stream of customers all day, making it a successful fundraiser.
Mr White and Mr Arnold have given this year’s team considerable time in the bikes with regular lunch time and after school practise sessions. The kids have even had vacation practise session, which provided an opportunity to train in wet and cold conditions. They will be well prepared to compete in Maryborough on November 20, 21 and 22.
5/6 HALLS GAP CAMP
The first of two groups are currently in Halls Gap and the next heads off tomorrow morning. I’m lucky enough to tag along with the 2nd group. It’s fabulous to have a large contingent of parents attending, enabling us to provide lots of support as we engage in a range of team building activities.
Then there’s a quick turnaround for the 5-6s as they move on to a 2-day Sovereign Hill experience. During this time, students will be in full costume and experience being a student in the gold rush days. This is always a memorable experience for the kids and comes with lots of learning and fun.
P-2 SPORTS
Good luck to everyone with our P-2 Sports on Friday and thanks in advance to the many parents that we know will be coming along to support and encourage the kids. Hopefully the weather will be kind to us, and we'll be able to go ahead.
