From the Principal
Today Miss Halliwell and our Year 6 student leaders, Hayden, Crystal, Jordan and Chloe, attended the annual Children’s Forum at the Springvale Town Hall. The Children's Forum brings young residents together to help shape the future of their city.
For the past eight years, Greater Dandenong Council Children's Services team has hosted the Children's Forum, where students in Years 5 and 6 from primary schools come together to develop ideas about future projects in their community. Involving children in activities and decisions means they can have a say in things that affect them. These activities also help children gain new skills and knowledge and build their confidence, encouraging them to express their opinions and be part of civic activities. Our student leaders are looking forward to sharing their experience today at the Children’s Forum with you in our next newsletter – watch this space!
Congratulations to the Year 3 students and teachers for a successful Sleepover. It’s so exciting to see the children arrive to school in their PJs eager to have the unique experience of sleeping at the school for a night! Although I’m not sure there was a lot of sleep that happened, but there certainly was a lot of fun and an experience the students will always remember. Thank you to the teachers, Mrs Heather, Miss Yates, Miss Chong, Miss Allman, Mrs Van Haaster and Mr Hill for giving the students this unforgettable experience. See page 4 to see all the happy smiles 😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁
Well done to all the Year 3-6 students who put together creative projects for the STEM Expo. The students showcased their programming and coding skills in their sustainable and collaborative projects, and they were very proud to share their work with the school community. They even featured in the local paper – Dandenong Star. See page 7 for the full story! Thank you to Mrs Meade, Miss Chong and Mr Calvett for leading and supporting the students in their projects.
Don’t forget to put our annual Melbourne Cup Celebration in your calendars. We would love to see as many parents and family members attend this special event. Every year we celebrate the day before Melbourne Cup at ARPS with a Fashions on the Field event in the morning and the students, staff and parent races in the afternoon. Come join in the FUN!
Student Voice have made a special invite for you! See page 3 for further details of the day.
