Creating Change: Building a Social Enterprise for the Good

This semester in Amplify, our Year 9 students are stepping into the world of entrepreneurship, developing the skills, creativity and problem-solving they’ll need to become the changemakers of tomorrow.

In partnership with ACRE, students will design and run their own small businesses, gaining real-world experience along the way. Each student will choose one of the five charities supported by Kildare Ministries and develop a business idea that connects to their chosen cause - giving their project both passion and purpose.

The program is structured so that periods 2 and 3 focus on explicit teaching, with eriod 4 dedicated to portfolio development - setting students up for success.

A major highlight of the semester will be our Shark Tank Pitch in Week 9, where students will present their business ideas to a panel of staff and ACRE representatives before the school holidays.

Students will also take part in two Market Days:

  • The first will be a smaller trial event, giving them the opportunity to test their products, engage with customers and refine their processes.
  • The second will be a larger, public Market Day, where they will implement improvements and work towards real-world success.

From creating physical products to exploring sales strategies such as online orders, pre-orders, or first-in-best-dressed sales, students will be challenged to think strategically and adapt to real-life business problems.

Through Amplify this semester, students will not only learn about business, marketing, and product development but also the deeper purpose of connecting their work to causes that matter - building skills for life beyond the classroom.
