The session will include an open Q&A, providing parents an opportunity to ask questions and gain insight from Dr Lovett’s extensive experience.

Photography Competition 2025

What Makes A Great Photograph?

Composition is Key

Good composition draws the viewer’s eye and tells your story clearly.

Use the Rule of Thirdsleading lines, and framing to make your subject stand out.

The Photograph:

Steve McCurry's iconic "Afghan Girl" photograph, featuring Sharbat Gula, is a powerful image that became a symbol of the plight of Afghan refugees during the Soviet-Afghan War. The portrait, taken in 1984 at a refugee camp in Pakistan, gained global recognition when it was featured on the cover of National Geographic in 1985.

The image, taken with Kodachrome 64 color-slide film, showcases a young Sharbat Gula, an Afghan refugee in Pakistan, with piercing green eyes that convey both vulnerability and resilience.
