Year 10 Beacon Pledge
On Tuesday our Year 10 students attended the Beacon Event at Twin Rivers Specialist School. The annual event aims to provide all Year 10 students across Echuca Moama with an engaging guest speaker who is able to talk about their school to work pathway. This year Ben Welch spoke at the event. In addition to speaking about his school to work experience and motivations, Ben spoke about his journey of resilience and determination- and what drove him to complete the epic 444 Challenge, running 380km from Mildura to Echuca in support of men’s mental health.
Following Ben's speech, the Year 10 Beacon Leaders including Daniel Adriaans, hosted a panel of past students and interviewed them about their school to work pathways. This inspiring discussion gave all Year 10s further valuable insights into navigating life after school and exploring the many possibilities that lie ahead.

Pathways Programs to University in 2026
There are many different ways to get to the same destination, and that applies to university too. Sometimes students do not quite meet the entry criteria to go straight into a university course – maybe their ATAR was not high enough, or they did not attain the minimum study score in a prerequisite subject. The encouraging thing is that many universities have recommended pathway courses to degrees they offer.
Check out the following document for many of these pathway schemes.
Casper Entry Requirements for Teacher Qualifications
Casper is an online test designed to assess an applicant’s personal and professional attributes. Casper is a requirement of applying to many initial teaching training courses in Victoria - Casper. Casper typically takes 65-85 minutes to complete. There are 2 main sections, with 11 scenarios which require typed and video responses.
Many universities offering undergraduate teaching courses will be requiring students sit the Casperonline test as part of the selection into teaching degrees in 2026. Students are encouraged to browse VTACand determine which courses will require the Casper for selection. Students might also like to browse Casper FAQs and have a look at Casper Preparation too.
