PHSC Careers Update
Greetings PHSC Community,
What a fantastic semester we have just wrapped up! The PHSC Careers space has been buzzing with energy, opportunities, and inspiring conversations.
Semester One Highlights
- International Women’s Day Panel – Students had the opportunity to hear from inspiring women across a range of industries, sharing their journeys and encouraging students to “accelerate action” in their own lives.
- Year 10 Work Experience Program – Just under 150 students out in our community, gaining hands-on experience and building employability skills.
- Alumni Career Panels – Former PHSC students returned to share their real-world insights, study pathways, and career stories.
- University Workshops/Guest Speakers – Engaging sessions with representatives from leading universities & local organisations to help students explore their options after school.
- Yr 9 Grow Week – A celebration of lifelong learning, skill development, and personal growth. It was very special going out to the city, where students engaged in hands-on activities, explored new environments, and gained inspiration for their future pathways.
And these are just a few!
Yr 10 Work Experience Re-Cap!
One of the most rewarding parts of my role is visiting our students on work experience. Whether it’s a bustling local café, a retail store, a community organisation, a non-profit, or a nearby primary school, I am always proud to see PHSC students making a positive impact in our community. Employers consistently tell me how impressed they are - a common theme being willingness to help, initiative, and a positive growth mindset. It’s wonderful to see our students living the PHSC values beyond the school gates.
Here are a few photos of the students I was fortunate enough to visit this year.

Spotlight on our HEAD START Legends – Zac and Pary
A special shoutout goes to Pary Das and Zac Poniris (Year 12), two outstanding students who are part of the Department of Education’s Head Start Program. This initiative allows students to begin an apprenticeship while still completing Year 12, giving them a real advantage in the world of work.
- Pary (left) has been undertaking a School-Based Apprenticeship in Building and Construction (Carpentry) since 2024. His dedication to learning the trade while balancing school commitments has been inspiring.
- Zac (right) recently started his apprenticeship in Roof Tiling – one of the very first students in Victoria to take on this pathway! A trailblazing achievement that sets the bar high for others to follow.
Our Head Start Coordinator, Reg, has been instrumental in ensuring our students are supported every step of the way, liaising with employers, trainers, and the school to make the experience a success.
