Middle School Reflection

As we reflect on the lengthy Term 2, we celebrate the many highlights, achievements, and learning opportunities our Middle School students have embraced. It was a busy and rewarding term, and we are proud of the commitment and enthusiasm shown across all year levels as we conclude the first Semester of 2025.
Year 7
Our Year 7 students have continued to grow in confidence as they settle further into high school routines. This term, they participated in a range of activities designed to strengthen their organisation, communication, and teamwork skills. Many students enjoyed their first experiences of interschool sport, showing great energy and school spirit. In English and Humanities, students have been developing their analytical and creative thinking, while in Science and Technology, hands-on experiments and projects have provided exciting opportunities for discovery. It has been wonderful to see Year 7s taking greater ownership of their learning and supporting one another as a cohesive cohort.
Year 8
Year 8 students have shown maturity and creativity throughout Term 2. A highlight was their participation in the Optus Digital Thumbprint cyber safety workshop, where students reflected on the impact of their digital footprint and learned strategies for staying safe and respectful online. To round out the term, the Year 8 cohort came together for an End of Term BBQ, a wonderful way to celebrate achievements, strengthen friendships, and build connections as a year level. The Year 8 leaders worked collaboratively with Mark to cook and serve over 200 sausages in bread while the 90’s tunes were blasting through a speaker. In the classroom, students have demonstrated curiosity and persistence across their subjects, with enthusiasm shown in electives, where many have embraced creative problem-solving and new skills. Term 3 has already kicked off with a bang, with further excitement shown during our two Ski Camps, offering opportunities for challenge, resilience, and team building in the alpine environment. Students came back exhausted, but exhilarated about this fantastic opportunity. We acknowledge that many students missed out on this camp due to capped numbers and the Middle School team will be reflecting on this as we plan for 2026.
Year 9
Year 9 students have had a rich and eventful term, building momentum as they prepare to transition into the Senior School in 2026. Early in the term, students completed their Morrisby testing, gaining valuable insights into their interests and future pathways. They rounded out the semester with GROW Week, an engaging program designed to extend their resilience, collaboration, and real-world problem-solving skills. Zoe, Trish and I want to extend our gratitude to every student participant, staff member and parent who helped make this program such a big success. In addition, Year 9 students have begun the important process of subject selection, carefully considering their strengths, aspirations, and career goals as they look toward the opportunities that Senior School will bring. Their thoughtful engagement in this process has been inspiring to witness.
It has been another term full of growth, resilience, and achievement across Middle School. We thank our staff, students, and families for their ongoing support and encouragement. We are excited to continue building on this positive momentum as Term 3 progresses and look forward to seeing our students embrace the Semester 2 opportunities and offerings.
