Year 3 Team
We all say ‘Yippee’ for being in 3A and 3B!
What an amazing term 3 we have had! The excitement and amazing experience of camp and some terrific learning experiences have made this term a great one!
Camp has been the highlight of our term with the students enjoying their time at Adventure Resort on Phillip Island! The students all demonstrated the school values and were super brave in sleeping over the 2 nights away from home!
The activities on the days were a buzz and the students enjoyed them immensely! Even getting wet under the fountain in the canoes!
During English this term, students have enjoyed reading Charlotte’s Web and exploring books linked to being a part of a community! During Charlotte’s Web, students dived deep into the themes and characters and how the author uses different figurative language to help grow intrigue in their story! They also explored how unlikely characters would become friends. We look forward to watching the movie and making connections back to the book at the end of the term. We have also enjoyed reading the texts Fox and The Little Refugee and discussing how different character traits are either positive or negative when we consider ourselves in a community. We have also been working through building our reading abilities through daily fluency practice and learning about the parts of words and their meanings through our Word Origins program.
In Numeracy, we have focused on a range of skills like Multiplication and Division, Location and Mapping, Probability and Fractions. The students continue to demonstrate great learning skills through all lessons.
We’ve also had Miss Williams join us on teaching placement for 4 weeks in 3A which has been a great treat for us to have another person in our class teaching and helping us learn!
During our Social and Emotional Learning sessions, we have been working to develop our strategies and knowledge about how to be Ready to Learn and identifying what makes us feel safe and people we feel safe with.
A fantastic term from all of our students and they all should be very proud of their efforts.
We look forward to all of the learning we will explore in the last 2 weeks of the term!
