Principal's Message

Mrs Jodeen Jackson

Congratulations to our Debating Team

We are thrilled to announce that our debating team won their recent debate on Monday against West Bathurst Public School. The topic of the debate was "That we should never allow any primary-aged person to have or use money," and our team confidently argued the affirmative position.

A huge congratulations to our talented debaters — Leo, Kahtia, Clara, Piper, Oaklea and Abigail — for their outstanding performances. This win marks their fourth consecutive debate victory, showcasing their dedication, teamwork, and impressive skills.

With this success, our debating team will now advance to the zone level competition. We would also like to sincerely thank Mrs Lea, who was the coach, for organising this wonderful opportunity for our students. We look forward to supporting them as they continue to represent our school with pride and enthusiasm.

Learning Circles

Over the past week, I have had the privilege of visiting classroom to participate in learning circles. During these sessions, students discussed what makes them feel safe—and unsafe—at school. A learning circle encourages everyone to share their knowledge and experiences, drawing on the collective wisdom of the group. Together, each student committed to one small action they can take to help others feel safe at school.

I was truly impressed by the thoughtful ideas and suggestions shared by students from Kindergarten through Year 6, as well as their dedication to making our school a better place. It is inspiring to see our students actively contributing to a positive and safe learning environment.

I kindly ask that you take some time to talk with your child or children about their personal commitment and whether they have had the chance to put it into practice at school. Many of our students are already demonstrating these positive actions daily.

Stage 1 Visit to the Theatre

On Tuesday, our Stage 1 students had a wonderful opportunity to visit the Bathurst Memorial Entertainment Centre to watch a performance of ViV. This children’s theatre production tells the story of ViV, an adventurous, strong-willed, and spirited girl who lives with disabilities, along with her little sister, Lil. The students were captivated by the engaging storyline and vibrant performance. It was a memorable outing that they thoroughly enjoyed, enriching their appreciation for the arts and storytelling.

Stage 2 Sporting Opportunity

Each Friday, our Stage 2 students visit the Basketball Stadium as part of the Sporting Schools program. There, they benefit from expert coaching by basketball development officers who guide them in mastering key skills such as shooting, dribbling, passing, and defending. This engaging program not only helps students improve their physical fitness but also fosters teamwork and a genuine passion for sport.

New Website

We are excited to announce the launch of our brand-new website! Explore, connect, and discover everything we have been working on — all in one place.

Over the coming weeks, our school will be gathering information to help us make well-informed decisions aimed at improving our school environment. The goal of this process is to create and sustain a positive school climate where your child/children can thrive. To support these efforts, we invite you to participate in the Parent and Caregiver Survey (PaCS). Your responses will provide valuable insights and highlight key areas for us to focus on in our school improvement planning.

Please read the following important information before completing the survey:

  • This survey is designed to gather feedback specifically about the climate at our school.

  • It offers parents the chance to share their experiences and perspectives about how things are going for themselves and their child/children.

  • Our school values your input and is committed to considering your feedback in our ongoing efforts.

  • The feedback is presented in the form of graphs summarising responses from all participating parents; individual data is not shared. To maintain anonymity, aggregated results are not reported for groups smaller than four parents.

  • To protect your privacy, the survey is completely anonymous. No names or identifying information are attached to your responses, and the school cannot access individual answers. All responses are sent directly to National School Improvement Partnerships (NSI), where they are analysed and combined into feedback reports.

  • When completing the survey, you will be asked to indicate how often each statement applies, using the options: Almost Never, Rarely, Sometimes, Often, or Almost Always.

Please note that staff and students will also be participating in similar surveys.
