‘Eagle Insight’ Excursion
Year 10 Sports Science
On Wednesday, 13 August, students doing the Year 10 Sports Science elective subject attended an excursion to Mineral Resources Park, training facility and home base of the West Coast Eagles.
After our inaugural visit in March, this was the College’s second opportunity to participate in the excursion and the students experienced a real treat of a learning experience!
Students and staff were very fortunate to spend time in the inner sanctum of the elite training environment, learning about key nutritional and physiological concepts that they can apply to their own high-level sporting pursuits. Students were able to see practical evidence of how their nutritional considerations impacted their energy levels and ability to recover from training more quickly.
A real highlight for the boys was listening to a presentation in the players meeting rooms, as well as observing training drills completed by WC players aimed at enhancing their performance readiness on the indoor oval. Eagles AFLW coach Daisy Pearce even took time out on the eve of their first match to check-in with that the students thought of the experience.
We look forward to sharing more of these opportunities with our ambitious students in the years to come.

Year 12 Aviation Excursion
Our Year 12 ATAR Aviation students recently enjoyed an and eye-opening excursion as they explored career pathways within the industry.
The day began at the WA Police Air Wing, where students were given an exclusive tour of the facility, including its fleet of aircraft and helicopters. One of the key highlights was a discussion on the increasing use of drones in law enforcement, particularly how effective they have become for criminal surveillance. Our students were given an insight into how aviation technology is evolving in this direction.
Next, students visited a medical training facility where they investigated the effects of hypoxia (oxygen deficit) in aviation… with their teachers as the test subjects. In a live demonstration of hypoxic training, Mr Kenny Chan and Mr Jay Callaghan were placed in a controlled environment simulating oxygen levels at 7,000 metres (23,000 ft). The results were both entertaining and informative as simple tasks became spectacular fails under the oxygen deprived conditions, demonstrating the critical importance of awareness and training in high altitude environments.
The day concluded with a visit to Network Aviation, which operates Qantas Airlink, where students toured a live maintenance hangar and got to fully explore a passenger aircraft. Qantas engineers provided insights into what it takes to keep these complex machines airworthy, answering a range of technical and operational questions from our students.
It was an exciting day of practical learning beyond the classroom, inspiring our students to consider future pathways in the aviation and aerospace industries.

Trinity & Mercedes Barn Dance Social
On Thursday evening, the Year 7 boys, their Senior Mentors and the Year 7 PCG teachers, moseyed on down Hay Street to dance with the cowgirls at Mercedes College. After our first small lawn games social in Term 1, it was wonderful to see the Mercedes gym alive with all things ‘wild west’ and cowboys and cowgirls all over the place.
After some early mingling and some uncomfortable silences and gaps in the dance floor, Humphrey’s Dance Studio led the students through a series of dances and everyone got into the spirit of the night. It was wonderful to see all the TC students, dressed up with their biggest smiles, chatting, dancing and enjoying themselves in a manner that we cannot see in the classrooms.
Thank you to Mrs Webb and her team at Mercedes College for hosting the evening and to the SMT students and the Year 7 PCG teachers for making an already wonderful night, even more fabulous! We look forward to many more socials to come.

Science Week
This week, Trinity was buzzing with curiosity, creativity, and a whole lot of science fun as we celebrated National Science Week. The big question we posed to our students was:“How will YOU science this week?” and wow did they rise to the challenge.
From the very start, the boys dove into a jam-packed schedule of hands-on activities and mind-bending challenges. They cracked codes in Escape Rooms, engineered marshmallow catapults to test distance, accuracy, and flair, and explored the human body in 3D using virtual reality in the library.
We launched rockets, shared weird and wonderful science facts, and even created lolly waves (yes, they were as sweet as they sound). One of the standout events was the Organism Design Challenge, where students imagined life forms that could survive on alien planets—creativity went intergalactic!
A crowd favourite, the VR Landing Challenge! Huge thanks to Mr. Chan and Mr. Callaghan for opening up the VR room, where students got to experience the thrill of virtually landing a plane. The energy in the room during the final round was sky-high.
And of course, Thursday brought the legendary Science Show with our very own Mr. Nick Marston and his fearless assistant, Mr. Lim. With explosions, fireballs, and clouds of fog, they wowed the crowd while showing off the powers of liquid nitrogen and dry ice. It was science with a bang.
A massive thank you to all the students who participated, helped out, and brought their enthusiasm to every corner of the school. And hats off to our incredible Science staff and lab techs for making the week unforgettable.
Science was well and truly ALIVE at TC this week!
