National Science Week in the Junior School
The Junior School has had a blast celebrating National Science Week 2025! This year’s theme, “Decoding the Universe - Exploring the unknown with nature’s hidden language”, inspired our boys to look more closely at the patterns in the world around them and to ask big, fascinating questions about science.
We explored the many natural patterns found throughout our environment and discussed how these patterns can teach us important lessons and help us uncover new discoveries about the world around us. Our undercover area display, filled with beautiful images, kept curiosity buzzing.
The boys discovered what “quantum” means and learned that 2025 is the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology. Interactive QR codes led them to videos, facts, and activities that satisfied their curiosity on topics ranging from particle physics to the mysteries of black holes.
The Periodic Table Recital Competition proved to be a favourite, with students challenging themselves to recall as many of the 118 elements in order as they could. The enthusiasm and determination on display were inspiring! A special mention to Lucas Santo in Year 5, who very capably recited all 118 elements in record time.
The FutureBots: National Science Week Challenge had the boys thinking like engineers and innovators. Using the Makers Empire app, they designed robots with a real-world purpose, whether to solve problems, help people, or protect the environment. Our new Bambu Lab 3D printer sparked plenty of excitement, with a selection of top designs to be printed later in the term. A big thank you is extended to the Parent Council for their contribution towards purchasing the 3D printer, giving the boys the opportunity to have this technology at their fingertips to support and enhance their learning. It has been a huge hit!
We wrapped up the week with a bang as The Silly Scientist visited us, delivering a fun and educational show that had the whole Junior School laughing, learning, and fully engaged.
At Trinity, we are really proud that every Junior School boy gets the opportunity to attend a specialist Science lesson each week. The boys enjoy being challenged, asking questions and exploring the world around them through the engaging lessons designed by Mrs. Saraceni. On behalf of the boys, thank you Mrs. Saraceni for the passion and effort you have placed into making Science Week a wonderful celebration.
God Bless,
James McPherson

Ian MacCrae Cup
The annual Ian MacRae Cup match between the Junior School AFL ‘A’s’ team and Aquinas College will be held Wednesday 20 August on Mann Oval. This is the first time in many years which TC will host this event. We wish the boys all the best for this fixture and look forward to their strong display of sportsmanship, humility and athleticism.
HOJS Forum
The Term Three Head of Junior School Forum will be held on Friday, 29 August at 1:45 pm in Gibney Hall. I look forward to welcoming parents to this forum to answer any questions regarding the Junior School and provide an update on recent events and implementations within the Junior School.
Share the Dignity
Earlier this year, on International Women’s Day, the Junior School held a fundraiser for Share the Dignity. This charity organisation is working towards ending period poverty in Australia. As a College, we are continuing to support this organisation throughout Term Three. We are asking for donations for period products to be placed in the pink boxes within the Junior School administration or main College reception.
Book Week – Junior School Dress Up
The College will celebrate Book Week in Week 5. The boys are invited to dress as their favourite book character on Thursday, 21 August. We will begin the day with a ‘Book Week Parade' in the Junior School Undercover Area at 8:30 am. Parents are welcome to attend. Book Week will be followed by the Scholastic Book Fair which will be held in the Junior School Library in Week 7, from Tuesday, 2 September to Friday 5 September.
