NILLUMBIK DIVISION CROSS COUNTRY CARNIVAL
On Thursday 4th June, six students from Greenhills Primary School proudly represented both themselves and the school at the Nillumbik Division Cross Country Championships, held at Bundoora Park. This was the second stage of competition, following their successful qualification through the Diamond Valley District Cross Country Carnival.
Congratulations to:
- Isabella A (6RM)
- Charlie B (6RM)
- Arlo C (6LB)
- Tomas I (5ND)
- Finn L (34J)
- Isla T (6RM)
All students, regardless of their placing, should be incredibly proud of their efforts. Reaching this level of competition is a significant achievement in itself. Their performances were made even more impressive by the challenging conditions, with cold weather and persistent rain throughout the event. Despite the difficult circumstances, all students displayed tremendous resilience, determination and grit as they pushed themselves to the finish line.
A special congratulations to those students who have qualified for the Northern Metropolitan Region Cross Country Championships next week. We wish you the very best of luck and look forward to hearing about your success.
DIAMOND VALLEY DISTRICT GIRLS AUSTRALIAN RULES FOOTBALL CARNIVAL
Congratulations to this outstanding group of Year 5 and 6 students who proudly represented Greenhills Primary School at last week’s Diamond Valley District Girls Australian Rules Football Carnival at Anthony Beale Reserve.
Our Year 6 team enjoyed a highly successful day, finishing undefeated and earning the title of District Champions 🥇.
The Year 5 team also represented the school with pride, with their confidence, skills and teamwork growing stronger with every game.
For many of the girls, this was their first experience playing Australian Rules Football, and there were certainly some nerves at the beginning of the day. However, as the carnival progressed, those nerves quickly turned into excitement and enjoyment. By the end of the day, the smiles on their faces said it all.
Both teams embodied the Greenhills values throughout the carnival, particularly teamwork, as they supported one another, encouraged their teammates and consistently brought out the best in each other. We are incredibly proud of the way they represented themselves and our school.
A special congratulations to our Year 6 team, who have now qualified for the Division Championships in Term 3 - the next stage of competition. We wish them all the very best as they continue their football journey and represent Greenhills Primary School once again.
COMMUNITY SPORTING ACHIEVEMENTS
Huge congratulations to Olivia N (34H) and her Eltham Wildcats Futures Academy teammates on their outstanding achievement in finishing Runners-Up in the Bulleen King’s Birthday U10 Basketball Tournament (B Grade).
Well done, Olivia! 💪🏼
Congratulations to Asher P (6SM) on her outstanding equestrian achievements with her horse, Candy.
Asher and Candy competed in their first Combined Training event together at the North Eastern Pony Club, finishing in an impressive 5th place. She also placed 5th out of 21 competitors in a Show Jumping event, competing at a higher level against mostly adult riders.
Adding to her success, Asher had her first lesson with Olympic show jumper Russell Johnstone, providing a wonderful opportunity to further develop her skills.
Asher will once again represent Greenhills Primary School at the CLC Combined Training competition in August.
Well done, Asher, and best of luck in your upcoming events!
If your child achieves something special (grand final win, most valuable player award, best and fairest etc.), please email me (jordan.daley@education.vic.gov.au) through photos and an overview of the achievement to post in Contact. It is important to celebrate and recognise such successes with the school community.
Thank you,
Jordan Daley
