BIG FREEZE FUNDRAISER SUCCESS

Gallery Image

The weather was very fitting last Friday for our Big Freeze Fundraiser. It was freezing and to make it even more so, our Junior School Council enjoyed tipping buckets of ice over staff members and other JSC students heads! This fundraiser was organised by our Junior School Council and we are very pleased to announce that over $1,319.45 was raised towards Fight MND.

Thank you everyone for your generosity and support of this important cause.

HOUSE ATHLETICS

Despite the wintery conditions, our recent House Athletics Carnival was a fantastic day filled with energy, participation and school spirit. Students embraced the challenge of the cooler weather, staying active, warm and engaged throughout the day as they competed in a range of track and field events. Rumour has it that a few staff even came out of retirement to put on a display of the triple jump and word on the street is that there will be a staff v parents v students relay race next year!

What stood out most on the day was the outstanding sportsmanship displayed by our students. Whether competing, cheering on their House teammates or encouraging others to do their best, students demonstrated respect, grit and teamwork in each event. It was wonderful to see so many students giving their best effort, challenging themselves and celebrating each other's achievements.

A big thank you to Jordan Daley for his awesome organisation, our staff, volunteers and student leaders who helped make the day such a success. We are incredibly proud of the way our students represented their Houses and contributed to a positive and enjoyable carnival for all.

THANK YOU BUNNINGS BBQ

A huge thank you to Rosie Vitez, our wonderful Parent Association and all the volunteers who helped make Sunday's Bunnings BBQ/Cake stall such a fantastic success (this includes all the bakers).

From the early setup to the final pack down, your hard work and dedication helped create a great day while raising valuable funds for our students.  Can you believe that the team cooked over 50kg of sausages and 20kg of onions!

We are incredibly grateful for your ongoing support and the strong sense of community you bring to Greenhills Primary School. Thank you for making a difference!

CAR PARKING & ROAD SAFETY

The safety of our students, families and community members remains a priority at Greenhills Primary School. We ask all parents and carers to take extra care when parking and driving around Greenhills Road, Mine Street and the surrounding local streets during drop-off and pick-up times.

Recently, we have received concerns regarding unsafe parking practices, including stopping in no-standing zones, parking too close to crossings and driveways, and making unsafe U-turns. These behaviours can significantly impact visibility and create unnecessary risks for children and families travelling to and from school.

We have requested further support from Banyule City Council Officers to monitor traffic and parking around the school. While we continue to work with Council to explore opportunities to improve safety, it is important to remember that road safety is everyone's responsibility.

We ask all members of our community to follow road rules, observe parking restrictions, use designated crossing points and model safe behaviours for our children. A few extra minutes spent finding a legal parking space can make a significant difference in keeping our school community safe. If your child is independent enough, I also make the suggestion of arranging for them to play inside the school grounds for 5 or 10 minutes after school and then walk down to the crossing before 3.45pm. We are always on duty until that time and I know from times that I am on the crossing, there are plenty of carparks after that 3.30-3.35pm rush.

Thank you for your support and cooperation in helping us create a safe environment for all students and families.
