CRAZY SOCKS DAY

Thursday we enjoyed seeing a variety of Crazy Socks around our school. The very generous donations from all of you have provided us with over $250. Next week the Spiritual Wellbeing Leaders will walk to the Eaglehawk Variety Store to select a variety of socks for purchase. These will then be donated to Eaglehawk St Vinnies. Thank you everyone!

RECONCILIATION WEEK

After our wonderful Reconciliation Week activities last week, the 5/6 units had an opportunity to reflect upon Acknowledgement of Country during our Respectful Relationships lesson today. We learnt about ensuring the acknowledgment is a meaningful, personal and unique pause of thanks. A thank you to the people who have walked on and looked after the land for thousands of years. We get to work, live learn and play on this land because of those who respected the land with such care and grace.

Ready in less than 45 minutes, mini quiches are a go-to for entertaining all year round. This bacon and cheese version is simply irresistible.

Ingredients

200g middle bacon rashers, finely chopped

2 sheets frozen puff pastry, just thawed

4 free-range eggs

1/4 cup (60ml) pouring (pure) cream

1 bunch chives, finely chopped

2/3 cup (80g) grated tasty cheese

Method

Step 1

Spray a large frying pan with oil spray and place over medium heat. Add the bacon and cook, stirring occasionally, for 6-8 mins or until browned. Transfer to a plate lined with paper towel.

Step 2

Preheat oven to 180°C. Grease two 12-hole, 11/2-tbs (30ml) mini muffin pans. Use a 7cm-round pastry cutter to cut 24 discs from pastry. Press pastry discs in the prepared pans and prick the bases with a fork.

Step 3

Whisk the eggs, cream and half the chives together in a jug. Season. Divide bacon and cheese evenly among pastry cases. Pour over egg mixture and top with remaining chives.

Step 4

Bake for 25-30 mins or until golden and pastry is cooked through. Set aside for 5 mins to cool before transferring to a wire rack.

Recipe tip

COOK. STORE. SAVE. Clever storage: Cool the quiches down completely before placing them in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven for 4-5 minutes at 180°C. To store in the freezer, place quiches on a baking sheet and freeze for an hour. Once frozen, place the quiches in a freezer-safe resealable bag or airtight container and store in the freezer for up to 2 months.

RECONCILIATION WEEK

Last week was fabulous!

We celebrated Reconciliation Week through art, music, dance, play, reflection and more.

Our day started with a reflection lead by our Cultural and Wellbeing leaders. We then experienced a Dance Performance Show and Hip Hop workshops followed (thanks Indigenous Outreach Projects!) Many moves made!

Other sessions included indigenous games, and teachings around indigenous maps/ clans and languages. The students created yarning sticks and added to the amazing art piece which Elli Jackson has guided us through.

ARTIST IN RESIDENCE UPDATE

Today was a busy and exciting day in The Arts as students continued celebrating Reconciliation Week alongside our Artist in Residence, Elli Jackson. Students worked collaboratively to add detailed elements to our whole school artwork, including outlining, symbols representing the educators in our community, and journey lines connecting each year level’s footprint. Throughout the process, students explored how art can tell stories, represent connection, and reflect our shared commitment to being “All In” for reconciliation. It has been wonderful to see students engaging so thoughtfully and creatively with the project. Stay tuned over the coming weeks as the final piece comes together, we cannot wait to share the finished artwork with our community!
