2025 School Spring Fair a Hit

Some will remember the rides and the diverse and colourful stalls. Everyone will recall the wonderful weather and smiling faces on a day that celebrated our community. When everything is packed away (hopefully not far away), the sugar levels have ebbed and the borrowed bits and pieces returned, we will be left with a significant memory of connection, warmth and the valuing of our community.

It was a wonderful time to see people working together. It would be remiss of me not to mention Jackie Arbuckle, Kym Sinclair, Hayley Nash and Vicky Doig. Their ‘FAIR-Y’ Godmother status was confirmed and we are all grateful for their pulling together of a wonderful day. There were stall coordinators and hundreds of volunteers that were passionately involved on the day and the many days prior. Some made phone calls, negotiated donations, constructed staging, rigged bunting, lay out designs, dolloped cream on scones, learnt new face painting skills and much more. Each contribution came together to celebrate life and learning in this place. Thanks to all known and unknown who gave their time and energy to the day. Without each person’s contribution, the Fair would never have been the celebration it was.

ICAS Awards

Friday 21 November

We are thrilled to have received our ICAS Certificates this week. This year we have been impressed with the students who have tested themselves and given their best effort in a range of formal assessments. Each participant is worthy of celebration as they sought to learn and extend themselves in this external assessment. At Friday’s assembly, we look forward to sharing the English and Writing certificates with students

24 students participate in English (5 Merit, 6 Credit and 3 Distinction)
10 students participate in Writing (1 Merit, 1 Credit and 1 Distinction)
21 students participate in Science (6 Credit)
29 students participate in Mathematics (5 Merit, 4 Credit and 1 Distinction)

Prep - Year 2 Sports Carnival

Tuesday 25 November

Excitement and anticipation are building for the 'Prep through to Year 2 Sports Carnival' next week. Students will be heading to the oval to enjoy a morning of adapted sports. Eager not to be missed out after the Senior Carnival earlier in the year, our junior students will shine at a range of fun events. Thanks to all our volunteers who will help pull together the event! Some reports suggest that the event is so popular that there might be more parents than students! We are sure students will be returning to tell some wonderful stories of sporting prowess.

Assembly Celebration Change of Date

Tuesday 2 December 2025 at 9am

We are excited to welcome Kate Thwaites to a special assembly on Tuesday 2 December. This is an opportunity for her to make a special presentation to one of our students who had their artwork published on the community holiday cards that will be distributed this year across Jagajaga. There will be no assembly on Friday 5 December.

Volunteer Morning Tea

Wednesday 3 December at 11am

After the School Spring Fair, our volunteer invitation list to the Annual Volunteer Morning Tea has suddenly expanded! We are sure to miss people but wanted to do our best to capture as many people as we can prior to sending out invitations. Of course, if you are one of the many who have read with students over the year, contributed to a Working Bee, attended an excursion or simply helped out, please consider yourself invited. Grab those diaries and reserve the date – all are welcome. A special incentive is for you to hear of the teachers that will be connected to classes in 2026.

Final First Nation’s Campfire Conversations Wednesday 3 December

First Nation’s students at Rosanna Primary are invited to join with students from our network to gather together around a special cultural experience. Representatives from Wurundjeri Woi Wurung group will share their understandings of bush tucker and native plants. Students will also have a chance to meet with Banyule Council as part of a consultation about development of Malahang Reserve. Students from local schools are collected by bus and travel to the Barrbunin Beek Gathering Place. This will be the final gathering and prove to be a real celebration of a wonderful year of learning.

Instrumentalists Concert

Thursday 4 December at 3:45pm

Join us for the afternoon and be uplifted by our student instrumentalist team. Listen to the violins, guitars, keyboards and piano students perform at this end of the year celebration. We welcome all who are connected to our performers and those who might be considering joining up in the coming year. It is always a date to celebrate.

2026 Prep Orientation 4

Wednesday 19 November

Parents gathered last night with the Prep teaching team to hear about life in the Prep classrooms. It was a chance to hear about the ins and outs of classroom learning, as well as hear some tips and tricks on essential family strategies to thrive in the first few years of learning. This was an important opportunity for parents who were unable to attend the other orientations to engage in the transition experience. Thanks to all who participated. The next Orientation is on Wednesday 26 November.

FORPS End of Year Picnic

Friday 5 December

Here is a chance to relax and enjoy the wind down of 2025. With a wonderful Fair to celebrate, FORPS are cautious about seeking more volunteers. While we have enjoyed the paella over the last few years we are eager to branch out daringly and subsidise the price of pizza’s. Stay tuned closer to the date to find out more about ordering! It is all about connecting and acknowledging a busy and productive year! Spread a blanket, bring your own dinner and think about ‘kicking the footy’.

Planning Week

Week Starting Monday 8 December

The timetable is reshaped on this second last week of term. Teachers meet in their 2026 teaching teams to plan for the startup program in 2026 as well as shaping the teaching and learning experiences. While this may be disruptive for some classes and students, the inclusion of our specialists will help ensure that as much routine and rhythm to learning and class life is maintained.

Year 5 Leadership & Year 6 Transition Day

Tuesday 9 December

While Year 6 students attend their 2026 High School, Year 5 students will participate in a leadership day. It will involve students in considering the nature of leadership and the possible roles of student leadership in 2026.

Choir is Lead Act in Opening of Rosanna Primary Woolworths!

Friday 12 December at 8:30am to 9:00am

Many musical careers will be catapulted into the musical world, as the Rosanna Primary Choir helps open the new Woolworths. It will not only be a wonderful opportunity for our students to perform in public, but also a great privilege to those who are opening the newest Woolworths in Australia. If you are nearby, please don’t hesitate to stop by and hear their tuneful carols as part of the celebrations.

BIG DAY IN: Kaboom Sports Leads the Olympics

Wednesday 17 December

Alerts went out on Compass noting the Big Day In celebrations at the end of term. Kaboom Sports will lead the school through Olympic Tabloid Sports on the oval. The Olympic flame will be lit at the opening ceremony and student groups will adopt country groups as they participate in a range of fun activities. Payment and consent can be made on QKR! Don’t miss out on what will be a celebration of the learning we have all experienced this year.
