This week we enjoyed learning Mahjong together whilst toasting some traditional Chinese Tea. Ms Li expertly guiding both our international and local students through the game, it was a wonderful chance to share culture, connect, and have plenty of laughs along the way. A special thank you to our Boarding House Captains, whose leadership and willingness to join every activity set a fantastic example for all boarders. Thank you all.

The College’s equestrian program continues to be a standout, giving boarders the structure and support needed to pursue this demanding and rewarding passion. Equestrian and boarding complement each other beautifully, as both require commitment, care and dedication—qualities our riders demonstrate every day. Alison, a devoted senior boarder, exemplifies this balance. She excels in show jumping and manages her training with maturity and focus, all while contributing positively to boarding life. Her example highlights how boarding provides the ideal environment for students to thrive both in their studies and in their chosen pursuits. Congratulations Alison.

Darcy Clarke claimed the title of our 2025 Pool Competition winner after taking on a series of skilled opponents in a tightly contested final. His focus, calm approach, and strategic play saw him rise to the challenge each round. Darcy’s victory was well-earned and showcased both his competitive spirit and composure under pressure. A fantastic achievement and a highlight of this term’s activities, well done Darcy. A very proud winner in the photo with Boarding Captain, Finn.

It has been a lively week of boarding activities, filled with food, fun, and fresh air. Our dumpling-making afternoon was a clear highlight, with boarders gathering ingredients, sharing family techniques, trying new recipes, and enjoying plenty of laughter along the way. A huge thank you to Maxine for her expert guidance and warm encouragement in the kitchen.
We also ventured to Warrnambool for a fantastic day trip, exploring Lake Pertobe Park, the Breakwater, local shops, and finishing with well-earned takeaway. Sincere thanks to Glen for driving and to both Glen and Ava for overseeing the day.
Back on campus, boarders took a refreshing break from study with a walk to the local park in Hamilton—topped off with an ice-cream treat. These moments are the wonderful opportunities to step away from screens, enjoy each other’s company, and simply playing about.
Tricky Trivia took slight turn this week, mophing into musical chairs. It certainly was a nerve raking experience watching our boarders challenge each other for a spot on a chair, however we managed to get through the task without injury! The noise in the refectory was palpable, with Josie taking out the win and a House point for Macdonald House.
