Spelling 

In 2026, RGLPS will continue using ‘Spelling Mastery’ for classes in Years 3-6. ‘Spelling Mastery’ is a direct instruction scripted spelling program that incorporates the three approaches to teaching spelling (whole-word, phonemic, and morphemic knowledge).

In 2026, students will be learning the spelling program one year ahead of their year level and will participate in instruction within their own classrooms. Each child will also have their own ‘Spelling Mastery’ workbook.

Prep - Year 2 classes will learn spelling strategies focused on phonics and phonemic awareness using the Little Learners Love Literacy and Heggerty programs.
