Assistant Principal's Report

Near the end of term..
It’s hard to believe it is already Week 9. Time really has flown this year!
With all the craziness that the end of year can bring, it is really important to look back at all the growth that our students have made since the beginning of the year. Whether that be in the classroom, in specialist areas, through sporting achievements, musical performances, public speaking competitions, chess championships.. the list goes on and on!. It might also be the growth in their confidence, the strengthening of friendships, their willingness to have a go at different experiences or building resilience. All of these things are reasons to celebrate and feel proud!
It is a great idea to sit down with your child or children and talk about all the positives of the year while also thinking about the exciting new challenges and opportunities to come in 2026 with the moving of year levels next year and for our Year 6 students, the beginning of secondary school.
Respect
Our three values at Whitehorse Primary School all centre around respect. Respect for yourself, respect for others and respect for your school. Amongst the excitement of December, it is really important for us as a school community (students, teachers and parents) to continue to demonstrate respect in all of our interactions.
Our expectations for our students are outlined in our WPS Behaviour Expectations Matrix (below):
Respect - Student Leaders
Our 2025 Student Leaders have been hard at work planning and preparing short presentations and activities to teach other students in the school about why respect is so important and how this can be shown at Whitehorse Primary School every day. They are really excited to share these soon.
Respect - Respect for your school
Well done to Tiam T in 2A who showed respect for our school last week by picking up rubbish in the outside play areas. Tiam used his initiative, by doing this without being asked and gave up his recess and lunch to help make a difference to our school.
A reminder to all our students that we shouldn’t be taking rubbish outside and if we do have rubbish that it needs to go in the bin straight away to keep our school and environment looking clean and beautiful!
Have a lovely end of term, looking forward to celebrating the end of year with our community at our Carols on the oval, this Thursday at 3:50pm.
