LOTE

What a great couple of weeks in Indonesian!

Our Prep students have been exploring Indonesian animal stories and learning to write simple sentences about the colours and numbers of different pets. They have enjoyed talking about animals, drawing them, and building their early Indonesian vocabulary.

In Years 1 and 2, students wrapped up their clothing unit by trying on different uniforms and traditional outfits in class. This hands-on activity helped them connect new words with real examples in a fun and memorable way.

Years 3 and 4 have been investigating transportation, and they celebrated their learning by creating some groovy glasses to tie in with their transportation unit. This activity brought lots of creativity and laughter!

Meanwhile, Years 5 and 6 have been learning about Indonesia’s volcanoes, with a special focus on the 1883 eruption of Krakatoa. They explored how this historic event impacted both Indonesia and the wider world, and were fascinated by the science and stories behind it.

Performing Arts

Our students have been working incredibly hard in Performing Arts this term as they prepare for our upcoming Christmas Concert. Throughout the year, I have been incredibly proud of the growth each student has made -their confidence, creativity, and willingness to try new things has truly shone.

For the concert, students are invited to wear Christmas-themed clothing already owned at home. There is no need to purchase anything new - simple, comfortable, and festive is perfect!

Join us for a wonderful evening of music, dance and celebration:

  • Date: Wednesday 10th December

  • Art Show: opens at 5 :00pm

  • Christmas Concert: begins at 6:00pm

Families are welcome to bring a picnic and enjoy the evening together.

Thank you for your ongoing support of our Performing Arts program - our students are so excited to perform for you!

Physical Education

Prep

Last week, our Prep students had their very first opportunity to explore with pool noodle hockey sticks. They explored moving their ball around in different ways, in various directions, and at different speeds. They then played Traffic lights, learning to dribble and trap based on traffic light calls. Fantastic job!

Years 1 and 2

Years 1 and 2 also continued to work on hockey using pool noodles. They played games practising dribbling, trapping, and passing skills, and also worked on achieving accuracy. Unfortunately, our Year Two session was washed out by rain, so we moved inside to review our gymnastic skills. We practised  using our bodies to create letters of the alphabet and even created a giant Y.R.P.S!

Years 3 - 6

This week our middle and upper students were lucky to have Jess and Lola visit us from Nunawading Gymnastics Club. They introduced us to gymnastic skills as we worked on a special circuit to develop rotations, strength, flexibility, and balance. We also experimented with ropes and ribbons to experience rhythmic gymnastics. Finally, we had the chance to see Lola and Jess performing some of their impressive gymnastic tricks! They will be visiting us again on the 10th of December, so we can continue to work on our skills.

STEAM

The finishing touches went into our habitats! Prep decorated their creations with bright details, Year 1/2 added labels and shared ideas with partners, Year 3/4 presented life cycle models, and Year 5/6 polished their ecosystem dioramas. Collaboration, colour, and creativity shone as students prepared for our upcoming STEAM showcase.
