Year 1 & 2

Around our level

Last week was a very busy week at school as the students participated in our swimming program. We were very proud of our students, as they achieved many things during their daily trips to Aqua Hub. Students learnt to look after their own belongings, help friends to find their items, and move on and off the buses safely. But most of all, they tried their very best to learn new swimming skills and push themselves out of their comfort zones!

We have been bringing in donations for the Salvation Army for Christmas. 1B have nearly collected 3 boxes full of food, toys, and holiday plates & cups. Please keep sending donations in!

In writing, we have been focusing on persuasive texts. We loved reading about The Crayons. Our favourite titles are ‘The Day the Crayons Quit’, ‘The Day the Crayons Came Home’, and ‘The Day the Crayons made Friends’. We chose a colour (eg. red), then wrote a letter to the crayon, asking him to come back to work. We have also been writing persuasively to convince others that their animal is the best. For example, 'Which is better? Dolphins or Sharks?'. Students have also read the book ‘Can I be your dog?’, and we have described our perfect breed of dog for us.

There was a storm during PE time this week and 1B sheltered in the junior corridor where they played pool noodle hockey! It was great fun!
