Prep

Last week our Preps attended swimming at Aqua Hub in Croydon as part of our whole school Swimming and Water Safety Program. Our students did an amazing job with listening, following instructions and routines, looking after their belongings, and with their improved water confidence. On Friday, they wore clothing in the water for Safety Day and practised jumping in the deep end with a PFD. These skills will be invaluable as we prepare for summer and time at the beach. A huge thank you to our wonderful Prep parents for coming each day to assist the teachers at the pool and in the change rooms. This was very much appreciated.

In Literacy, we are revising the diagraphs ('ck', 'sh' ,'th', and 'ch'). This week we will focus on ‘wh’ and ‘ph’ in CVC words. We will continue to write recounts about our weekend and share more Eric Carle stories as part of our Author Study.

In Maths, we are revising numbers to 20 and beyond through card, dice, and board games.

In Wellbeing, we are learning about Respectful Relationships and how we play fairly, be inclusive and be friendly to others. We went outside to the outdoor Prep area and practised our skills of sharing, taking turns, and voting to make things fair. We also learnt to negotiate with others when using toys, equipment, and special items, when deciding what to play, and how to play fairly with others.

In Geography, we have been looking at relics and heirlooms of the past and comparing them to present day items.

We have been very busy practising our songs and dances for the Prep Alphabet Concert. The children have also been working hard in Performing Arts to practise their performance for the Christmas Concert.
