Reflection

Advent
Last Sunday marked the beginning of the Season of Advent and the start of the liturgical year for 2026. Advent calls us into active waiting in joyful hope for the coming of Jesus. The Prophet Isaiah describes this season as an outpouring of God’s redeeming rain—grace that nourishes and brings forth new life: “[the rain that] waters the earth, making it bring forth and sprout, giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater” (Isaiah 55:10–11).
Here on our Southern Land, Isaiah’s imagery resonates deeply, evoking the earth’s thirst for renewal—soil, trees, and flowers reaching for life after dryness. This sense of fresh beginnings reminds us that Advent is a season of hope, joy, and outward-looking love: God pouring out His life upon the world, and humanity reaching toward one another. Each year as a faith community, we embody this by extending care and support—especially to those most in need.
Advent Prayer
As we enter this season of fresh beginnings, may our hearts be renewed with hope, joy, and outward-looking love. Advent reminds us that God continually pours out His life and light upon the world, inviting us to reach toward one another with compassion.
As a faith community, may we embody this spirit through our actions—offering care, generosity, and support, especially to those most in need. May this season guide us to walk gently, give generously, and love boldly, as we prepare our hearts for the coming of Christ.
Amen.
