Prep - Grade 2 Sports Day
Wednesday November 26
Tomorrow, SC1 will be starting the day at the Buninyong campus for the annual Prep - 2 Sports Day. Students are encouraged to wear their house colours on the day. We have reminded students of their house colour today in class.
SC1 Grade 1 & 2s session will be between 9:30 - 10:50 am, and the SC1 Preps will be between 11:40 am - 1pm. Parents are encouraged to come along and watch. At the conclusion of the sports day (approx 1pm), SC1 will be bused back to Scotsburn to finish the day at the Scotsburn Campus. Normal Scotsburn pick up arrangements at 3:30pm
Please meet Mrs Connor in the courtyard at the Buninyong Campus at 8:45am.
We can’t wait for this very fun event!
Grand Parents and Special Friends Day
Friday November 28
A reminder to everyone we have our Grandparents and Special Friends Day, this Friday, December 28. This is always a big event and one of the highlights on the school calendar. If your children have grandparents that can attend, please invite them along, but if not, they are welcome to invite anyone else that is special to them…that might even be you.
Our guests are invited to come along between 9am and 11am to visit classrooms and explore the grounds. We will first hold a short assembly in the shed, then head into the classrooms.
At around 10:30am, our visitors will be invited to the old building for some morning tea and a chat. In the past we have had parents bring along a plate, resulting in an amazing spread for our grandparents to enjoy. We’d like to do the same again and invite all families to send something along. We also need a few adults to help organise and serve morning tea. Please let Mr Morgan know if you are able to help.
We look forward to a wonderful morning!
2026 Scholarships Programs
For students currently in Grades 3-5, Scholarship applications are due by this Friday. Students can apply for any of the following Scholarships: Visual Arts, Music, STEM, Photography and Masterchef. We have been working on these in class and students have now been finishing them off at home. Those that are still looking to apply for one or more of the programs, students need to write a letter to Mr Conlan explaining why they would like to participate and why they would be a strong candidate. Students are also welcome to attach supporting documentation, which might include relevant samples of their work or photos showing their involvement in the relevant field.
See Mr. Morgan for more details!
Grade 6 Graduation Preparations
Our Grade 6 students are now getting very close to the end of the year, and that means it is time to start preparing for Graduation! As has become tradition at Buninyong, our Grade 6s will join the entire Buninyong Grade 6 cohort for a Graduation performance celebration. Over the next few weeks, our Grade 6 students will be required to head down to Buninyong on Monday and Tuesday afternoons for practice. We will organise transport over the lunch break, however pick up will be from the Buninyong campus on the days.
We will keep families informed should there be any chances each week.
Thanks in advance for your flexibility!
Bollywood Dancing Fun!
Here are some snaps from our Bollywood dancing fun last week - thanks to Mount Clear College for providing this wonderful experience!
Grade 6 Jumpers 2025
A reminder to our Grade 5 parents that our 2026 Grade 6 jackets are now at the Buninyong office ready to try on and order. If you haven’t done so already, please head down and try one on before the end of this week.
Planning for 2026
With so much going on at the moment it is hard to think too far ahead, however planning for 2026 at Scotsburn is well under way. Whilst we are a week or so away from finalising details, at this stage we don’t imagine too much change or movement at the campus. In terms of classroom structure, we will be continuing with our two class model, with SC1 being a Prep - 3 classroom, and our SC2 class being a Grade 3-6.
For our current Grade 2 students and families at Scotsburn, we will be looking at where each student is best placed, based on a number of factors. We will be contacting families of students in our current Grade 2 cohort individually over the next few weeks to discuss the potential transition into SC2. In some specific cases, there may be a valid reason for staying in SC1, with these decisions made on an individual basis with each family.
We will be in the position this time next week to share more finalised 2026 details.
End of Year Scotsburn Celebration and Picnic KEEP IN THE CALENDAR!
Monday December 15
Please keep in your diary the date for our end of year Scotsburn Concert and Picnic - Monday 15th December. As has been the case for the last few years, we will be running the concert between 2:00pm - 3:30pm. There will be lots more information regarding this and the rest of our end of year events coming out in the next week. Keep an eye out on Compass.
Scotsburn Pool Day and CFA Water Fight Wednesday December 17
This year our annual Pool Day and CFA fundraiser and water fight day will take place on the same day - Wednesday 17th December. We thought why not make the one day a full day of water fun, with us heading off to the Federation University PoOl from 11:00am - 1:00pm, then back for the waterfight at Scotsburn from 2:00pm. There will be an event on Compass coming out later this week for the pool excursion.
We have been doing our CFA Waterfight for quite a few years now and it is one of the most exciting end of year events. We are very lucky to have the Buninyong CFA volunteers come along to have some seriously wet and fun times with our students!
Part of this special event is a way of saying ‘thank you’ to our local brigade and to acknowledge these volunteers for all their hard work and dedication. As in the past, we are asking all students to complete some chores around the house over the next few weeks to earn some pocket money that they can donate to the Buninyong CFA. There will be a sheet sent home next week with each student where they have the opportunity to list their chores and the amount they have raised. Every small donation helps so please take this opportunity to encourage your children to complete some special chores and dig deep for those who volunteer and help our community, especially over these coming hot months.
Music Lessons in 2026
Look out for Music lessons at Scotsburn in 2026! After some discussions with Jess Higgins-Anderson and Bryan Anderson (Adele’s parents), we are looking to implement a music lesson program in 2026. This has been something that has been floated a few times over the past couple of years, and we are very excited to finally offer this to Scotsburn families.
Bryan is a highly experienced instrumentalist and a registered Music Therapist. He has specialised training in teaching piano to young people with additional needs and has taught piano privately, at studios in Melbourne and at Christian College Geelong. Bryan has broad musical knowledge and experience with decades of experience playing in bands as both a drummer and pianist. Bryan focuses on teaching music fundamentals through whatever genres interest kids, whether that’s accompanying themselves singing K-Pop Demon Hunters, rocking out to heavy metal, learning video game soundtracks or working through a more ‘traditional’ teaching approach.
Lessons will most likely be held on Mondays in 2026 during school hours – dates and times TBC. $40/30 min lesson. Paid in term blocks. Bryan is looking to offer private instrumental lessons on piano, drums and beginner guitar.
Thanks so much Bryan and Jess, we look forward to this opportunity in 2026!

Scotsburn Intercampus Travel At times, Scotsburn students will be transported between campuses in order to attend classes, assemblies, special days and events. On most occasions, transport required through the day will be by bus and occasionally private car for smaller groups of students. Parents may be asked to drop off or collect from the Buninyong campus if sessions are at the beginning or ending of a day. We will always let you know of any upcoming travel arrangements via our newsletter, Compass, or via phone for smaller, more specific travel arrangements. If you ever have any questions or concerns regarding intercampus travel, please contact your child’s teacher. |
