Learning at Meadowbank

1C's Class Report

This term in Dance, 1C has been exploring how people use movement and sound to celebrate, connect and communicate. We have been learning that movement expresses joy and excitement through the elements of space and dynamics. 1C has been looking at dances inspired by festivals, cultural traditions and community events. We have also been learning about our own ‘dance bubbles’ and dancing at low, medium and high levels.

In particular, we have been learning the steps of ‘The Nutbush’ and performing in small groups. We love dancing together to express ideas of connection and celebration!

K/6R's Class Report

Warami  families!

Throughout this term, K6R have been learning how to write letters for different purposes. We learned that the language and contents of a letter can change depending on who you are writing to and how formal your letter is. Each student planned and wrote a letter to a family member to share their favourite learning activities and exciting moments at school.

Last week, we mapped out our route and walked to the nearest post box to mail our letters. We can’t wait to see our families’ reactions when they receive our letters!

New Arrival Morning Tea

Last Thursday, our school hosted a successful New Arrivals Morning Tea, where parents of newly enrolled students came to learn more about school life in Australia. The event provided a valuable opportunity for parents to meet with Miss Parada and Mrs Crawford, connect with other families, and gain a better understanding of the Australian education system.

During the morning, we shared important information about school processes, including attendance, communication, student reports, and support services available to students and their families. Discussions also focused on English language development and the ways parents can support their children's learning both at school and at home.

Parents were encouraged to ask questions and share their experiences of settling into life in Australia. Miss Parada then took the parents on a tour of the school. The morning tea helped strengthen connections between families and the school community, creating a welcoming and supportive environment for everyone.

We thank all families who attended and look forward to continuing to support our new arrivals throughout their educational journey.
