Boarding 

It has been wonderful to see so many of our boarders' embracing opportunities for leadership and community involvement.

I am delighted to announce the appointment of our Year 11 Boarding Senior Leaders for the next 12 months. Following a thorough application process and the delivery of speeches to their fellow boarders, the girls participated in a vote to select their representatives. Congratulations to Olivia Smyth, Ellie Lai and Florence Burgoyne, who will take on these important leadership roles. These students will work closely alongside our Boarding Prefects, supporting initiatives within the Boarding House and helping to foster a positive and inclusive boarding environment. We look forward to seeing the contributions they will make over the coming year.

Our boarders have also enjoyed a variety of activities beyond their regular Sunday recreation program. A group of senior boarders attended a Boarders' Social hosted at Knox College, providing a wonderful opportunity to connect with students from other boarding communities across Sydney. Another enthusiastic group spent the evening supporting Boarding Supervisor Taleyah as she represented Easts Women’s Rugby. It was fantastic to see the girls cheering from the sidelines and celebrating Taleyah’s achievements. We are lucky to have such positive role models working in the Boarding House.

This term, we also say farewell to our two GAP students, Kaela and Diana, as they return home after a memorable time in Australia. Both have made an enormous contribution to life in the Boarding House, building strong relationships with our girls and enthusiastically involving themselves in every aspect of the community. Throughout their time with us, they have truly made the most of their Australian adventure, creating lasting memories and friendships along the way. We thank Kaela and Diana for everything they have brought to our boarding community and wish them every success and happiness in the future.

I would like to thank all of our boarding families for their ongoing support and partnership. We wish everyone a restful and enjoyable three-week holiday break, filled with time to reconnect with family and friends, recharge, and celebrate the achievements of the term. We look forward to welcoming the girls back refreshed and ready for another exciting term in the boarding house. Safe travels and best wishes for a wonderful holiday.

Weekend Rec Activities

Hijinx Hotel: A Battle of Wits and Teamwork!

The Kambala Boarders recently enjoyed an action-packed afternoon at Hijinx Hotel, where the girls split into two teams and went head-to-head in a series of five exciting challenge rooms. Each room presented a unique theme and a different way to score points, testing everything from teamwork and communication to quick thinking and problem-solving skills. From completing letter sequences and spotting hidden comic book clues to saving sinking ships, shooting baskets, cracking codes, and tackling a range of other creative challenges, the girls threw themselves into the competition with enthusiasm. 

There were plenty of laughs, lots of cheering, and even a little sweat as the teams raced to outscore one another. With bragging rights on the line and a much-loved reward awaiting, the competition was fierce. The ultimate prize? A visit to Yo-Chi, of course! After the challenges were complete, the girls enjoyed celebrating their efforts with frozen yoghurt and spending time together. The outing was a wonderful opportunity for the girls to connect, work as a team, and have fun outside the Boarding House, creating plenty of memories along the way.

Korean BBQ - Emily

With everyone very excited for a yummy lunch, we headed into Sydney’s Chinatown to Butcher’s Buffet, a Korean BBQ Buffet. A wide selection of delicious meats, salads and sides awaited us. The fun of cooking it all on the hot plates and trying new flavours was a real novelty. Just when we thought we were full, we realised there was also unlimited Korean ice creams in delicious melon, strawberry and watermelon flavours. 

Feeling very pleased with our eating efforts we left and waddled our way back to Town Hall. However, it wasn’t straight home as we had to give the Photo Booth store and, Wasted thrift shop and Kinokuniya the giant bookshop all a little visit along the way. The beautiful sunny winter day was perfect for a fun city adventure. 

Events

To celebrate the end of term, the Boarding Prefects hosted a special "Bring a Day Girl to Afternoon Tea" event for the entire boarding community. The dining room was filled with laughter, conversation, and friendship as day girls joined boarders after school to experience a glimpse of boarding life. With plenty of hot chocolate, caramel slice, and fresh fruit enjoyed by all, the afternoon provided a wonderful opportunity for girls to connect and strengthen friendships across the school community. Following afternoon tea, everyone headed over to the Boarding House, where they spent the remainder of the afternoon enjoying chalk drawing, games, and other fun activities together. It was a fantastic way to finish the term.
