Building and Grounds Committee

At Wales Street Primary School, we are incredibly fortunate to have a dedicated Building and Grounds Committee as part of our School Council. Made up of parents, carers and staff, the committee works collaboratively to maintain, enhance and plan for the future of our school environment, ensuring it continues to support the learning and well-being of all students.

Our committee members are Davor, Ariyana, Rebecca, Nadia, Marian, Toby, Robyn and Luisa; we sincerely thank them for generously giving their time, expertise and commitment to our school community.

The committee plays an important role in supporting the ongoing development and presentation of our school grounds and facilities. This includes discussing improvement projects, coordinating and participating in working bees, providing feedback on outdoor learning spaces, considering sustainability initiatives, and helping prioritise projects that have the greatest impact on student learning and wellbeing. The committee also works closely with the school to monitor maintenance needs and ensure our facilities remain safe, functional and welcoming.

Over recent years, the committee has been instrumental in supporting several significant projects, including the Mini Oval, the Boat Playground, and the ongoing enhancement of our gardens through regular working bees.

Most significantly, committee members played a vital role in supporting and advocating for the school's Stage 2 Masterplan, which successfully secured over $21 million in Victorian Government funding to upgrade and modernise our facilities, which will include a gym, new classrooms and a dedicated library space. This remarkable achievement will transform learning spaces across the school, providing current and future students with safe, modern and inclusive facilities that support high-quality teaching and learning for many years to come.
