Learning in Action: A Snapshot of Term 2

As we come to the end of Term 2, it has been a busy and exciting time across our school, with students engaging in rich, hands-on learning experiences both in and beyond the classroom.

A highlight of the term has been our range of excursions, which have provided students with valuable opportunities to connect their learning to the real world. Our Prep students explored living things during their visit to Werribee Zoo, while Years 1 to 4 students brought science to life at Scienceworks through interactive exhibits and workshops. Our Year 5 and 6 students travelled to the Victorian Space Science Education Centre, where they immersed themselves in space exploration, energy and scientific inquiry through engaging, hands-on programs.

Back at school, students have continued to build on these experiences through their classroom learning. Year 5 and 6 students explored the Solar System through the text *Deadly Science*, developing their understanding of space while strengthening their ability to write detailed explanatory texts. Across the school, students have been investigating topics such as weather, matter, energy and forces, applying their knowledge through experiments, problem-solving and collaborative learning.

We have also continued to strengthen our approach to reading instruction. In Prep to Year 2, students are building strong foundations through the UFLI phonics program, while Years 3 and 4 are developing their understanding of spelling, grammar and morphology. Across all year levels, there is a strong focus on fluency and accuracy, supporting students to become confident and capable readers.

The term will culminate in our much-anticipated Learning Expo, where every learning community will showcase their learning. From our Prep garden and Year 1/2 weather and space investigations, to the Year 3/4 science explorations and the Year 5/6 journey through energy and the cosmos, the Expo will celebrate the curiosity, creativity and achievements of our students.

We are incredibly proud of the enthusiasm, teamwork and growth shown by all students this term and look forward to sharing their learning with our community.
