Year 7 attend the "Think You Know’ presentation
On Monday 27 July, all year 7 students attended a ‘Think You Know’ presentation delivered by a south Australian Police Officer, Senior Constable ‘Mat’.
This presentation aimed to educate students on the safety issues their age group might face online. Students were taught how to make informed decisions to keep themselves safe online and as well as how they can overcome challenges through help seeking behaviour.
The students displayed excellent behaviour throughout the presentation and demonstrated good understanding of the ideas being presented by providing thoughtful answers to the questions being posed. Care Group Teachers will follow up this presentation with class activities during Well Being for Learning lesson in week 3.

Year 8 Earth and Space Systems: Applied Science and Innovation in Action
Students in class 803 have recently been investigating how tectonic plate movements shape the Earth’s surface and can trigger geological events such as earthquakes. As part of this learning, students engaged in a hands-on project to design, construct, and test scale models of earthquake-resistant buildings.
Throughout the project, students carefully documented their design thinking, made improvements during the construction phase, and then tested their structures to evaluate how well they could withstand simulated seismic forces.
This initiative provided an excellent example of applied science, encouraging creativity and problem-solving. It was wonderful to see students actively engage with scientific concepts while developing practical engineering skills.
Well done to all involved for demonstrating enthusiasm, innovation, and teamwork in this exciting learning experience.

Sammy D Foundation Empowers Year 8 and 9 Students
On 30 June, our Year 8 and 9 students participated in an engaging and thought-provoking presentation delivered by the Sammy D Foundation.
The session focused on the impact of violence and the importance of making positive choices, offering real-life stories that reinforced our school values of honesty, care and compassion, and respect.
Presentations such as this bring our school values to life and encourage students to look out for both themselves and others. This event forms part of our ongoing commitment to student wellbeing through the Wellbeing for Learning Program.
It was pleasing to note the high level of student engagement during the session, reflecting their commitment to fostering a welcoming and supportive school environment for all.
