Wellbeing

Wellbeing Initiatives in Semester 1

Wellbeing Garden

During Term Two, we commenced our Wellbeing Garden project, which was inspired by Lily Ertekin’s Year 9 Service Project.  Under the guidance of our wonderful Counsellor, Maria, several students from our junior and senior schools have been planning the garden structure, weeding, propagating, and have even commenced planting some native plants, which have been donated by the Hume City Council. In Term Three, we will continue to plant more native flora in this special space.

Wellness Wednesdays

During Term Two, Cumberland students had the option of participating in a range of fun, mindful and creative activities every Wednesday at lunchtime. These activities were led by our Provisional Psychologist, Reem Allahham, and cofacilitated by members of the Student Wellbeing Team (SWT). The ‘Wellness Wednesdays’ activities included making friendship bracelets, writing gratitude letters, constructing fidget toys, taking part in a sound bath, and going on a nature walk and farm visit.

Chill Out Room Mural

As the Art Therapy Student at Aitken this year, I’m thrilled to share a progress update on our under-the-sea-themed mural in our chill-out space. This project was led by the talented Ilana (Year 7), whose winning design has brought vibrant life to the walls of our designated chill-out room. With contributions from many creative students, the mural has truly become a collaborative masterpiece. Ilana's dedication and hard work have been exceptional, guiding the project with artistic vision and enthusiasm. We are on track to complete and unveil the mural by Term 3, and we can't wait to showcase the transformed chill room, a space that reflects the incredible talent and effort of our student community and the wellbeing team.
