RECONCILIATION WEEK

This term, Aitken College celebrated Reconciliation Week. Held from May 27 – 31st, several events were organised to provide opportunities for our community to deepen their understanding of First Nations cultures and the importance of reconciliation.

Assemblies addressing misconceptions about First Nations Peoples were highly informative, fostering a stronger sense of respect and appreciation. The screenings of "Little J & Big Cuz" were also well attended and particularly engaging for primary school students.

Additionally, the anti-racism workshop equipped students with tools to combat racism, and the badge-making and damper-tasting activities combined creativity with cultural education, offering a fun and memorable way to engage with First Nations heritage.

Overall, Reconciliation Week was a tremendous success. It educated and inspired our community while reinforcing our commitment to respectful and meaningful relationships with First Nations peoples. Thank you to everyone who participated and contributed to making this week so impactful. Let’s continue to carry forward the spirit of reconciliation in our daily lives and actions.
