Lower Division
Lower Divsion have been working hard all the way up to the end of term. In English, we have been working on similes and students from Kindergarten to Year Two have enjoyed sharing their examples - please see some of them below.

As hot as fire - Genevieve
As cold as ice - Mekenzie-May
As hot as the sun - Leithan
Fast like a cheetah - Joah
As big as the sea- Leo
Lower Division have also enjoyed their independent reading in class with a range of books from our library, and we encourage students to continue to practice their reading during the holidays.
Upper Division
In History, the Upper Division looked at how our space has changed over time, drawing a mud map of the school before and after the demountables were brought in.
Stage 3 Writing
Stage 3 students have finished their major writing piece on Macquarie Island. We studied the text 'One Small Island' by Alison Lester and Coral Tulloch which depicts the many issues threatening the island. Stage 3 conducted further research through viewing interviews and reading credible articles online. Students collated their ideas to plan, draft, edit and publish a hybrid (combined) informative and persuasive text about conservation at Macquarie Island. It was impressive to see students use techniques such as high modality and objective language, Tier 3 vocabulary (subject specific terminology) and appropriate structure to increase the authority in their writing. Well done Stage 3!
