From our Principal

Dear Parents, Students and Friends,

In the last edition of the newsletter, I provided all with my five core ingredients for students to experience success in their learning. This week I spoke to the Year 10 and 11 students of our expectations regarding their approach to their senior studies. The theme was centred around these core ingredients and comes off the back of the year twelve assembly held a few weeks back. In part the message to our year tens and elevens was centred on five golden rules which, if applied diligently, will go a long way towards students both individually and collectively achieving success.

These five golden rules are:

1. Work Ethic – you only get back what you are prepared to put in.

2. Choose Courage over Comfort.

3. Be Accountable – firstly to yourself and then to the rest of your classmates.

4. Be Present – which at one level speaks of attendance at school but at another level speaks about engagement in the classroom.

5. Be Collaborative – where all students possess a collective commitment to be best version of themselves in the learning opportunities provided to them

In respect to students choosing courage over comfort, Brene Brown suggests that “we can choose courage or we can choose comfort but we can’t have both, not at the same time”. To this end the partnership between school and home and student to teacher becomes significant. Students need to be guided as to what is acceptable and expected in relation to work ethic, guidance as to the level of accountability required and support in respect to what level of presence is required in the classroom. This is indeed the responsibility of the teacher but it also requires students to be prepared to choose courage over comfort in their learning journey.

Building Projects 2024

Much is in store on the building front in 2024-2025.

On the Clyde North campus a number of builds will commence. Included below are the types of buildings, their purpose and expected completion date:

Clyde North

The Cranbourne campus continues to move forward with its staged renewal and revitalisation program honouring the masterplan overlay first established in 2017.

Cranbourne

These building projects continue the drive to ensure students experience the sorts of learning facilities where learning can thrive. These projects are also designed to support the enrolment growth being experienced on both campuses. To this end the college has recently committed to reviewing the Cranbourne campus masterplan to ensure it continues to meet the needs of the campus and is in alignment with the education vision of the college.  It is the intent, in subsequent editions of the newsletter, to provide detail of the projects individually so that all can gain a sense of the design features.

Enrolments 2025 – 2026

In referencing enrolment growth, it is important to highlight that we are experiencing unprecedented demand for enrolment places. If you have a son or daughter due to commence in 2025 or 2026, please ensure you act fast. In some cases, enrolments far outweigh available places so please enrol now to avoid disappointment.

Save the Date

Discovery evenings are being held on the following dates:

  • Cranbourne Campus – March 26th
  • Clyde North Campus – March 27th

The discovery evenings, sometimes referred to as open evenings, provide an opportunity for both current families and future enrolments to see the College in action, meet with senior leaders and hear of the exciting learning opportunities available upon enrolment at St Peter’s College. Please ensure you spread the word to families you believe would be interested in attending one of the evenings. Bookings are essential. The Booking form can be found on the College web-site.  Alternatively the following link will direct prospective parents to the relevant area of the web-site where an online booking form is waiting:

Enjoy the week ahead
