Principal's Report

Preps

It is hard to believe that our Prep students have only been attending school for four weeks. They have settled into class and school life beautifully.  We are very proud of them!  A big thank you to our Prep Team and Prep Parents for enabling this smooth transition.

District Swimming Carnival

Last Thursday, 28 Year 4 to 6 students represented our school at the District Swimming Carnival at GESAC Our students gave it their best as they competed and cheered their peers on. Gardenvale PS finished 3rd overall.   Thank you to Kirsten Travis, Nathan Grant and Naga Koswara for their organisation and support of this event and to all the parents that were able to be there to cheer and encourage the swimmers. Twelve of our students have qualified to represent the Balaclava District, in the Beachside Division Championships on 8th March at Oakleigh Recreation Centre.

Year 6 and 4 Camps

Today our Year 6 students, staff and parent volunteers happily set off for their 3 night camp at The Ranch, Boneo.  Tomorrow morning, we will wave goodbye to our Year 4 students, staff and parents as they head off to the Arrabri School Camp, East Warburton for their three-day outdoor adventure program. A Compass message will be sent out to Year 4 and 6 Parents upon arrival at camp.  The scheduled return time to school is 3.00pm on Friday for Year 6 and 3:15pm for Year 4. A Compass message will only be sent if there is a change to this time.

Tom Ashmor

Last Monday, 19th February, we were extremely saddened to hear of the sudden passing of Tom Ashmor, father of Miki in Year 2 and Tammy, now in Year 7.  We send our love, support and condolences to Kate, Tammy and Miki.

My gratitude to all those in our community that have, and will continue to, support Kate, Tammy and Miki, as they try to move on without their beloved husband and father.

Year 6 Leadership Badge Presentation

The Year 6 Leadership Badges will be presented at the Senior Campus Assembly next Monday, 4th March at 9.00am, under the COLA.
