What's Happening In Primary

Worship Wednesday

If there is one assembly during the week that we would love to see every family at, it is Worship Wednesday. Last Wednesday, Primary students participated in their first Worship Wednesday for the year. This assembly is a time where we come together as a community to praise, worship, and glorify our Lord through song and prayer.

Each Wednesday will include different worship songs and are lead by our amazing Year 5/6 classes. The atmosphere was filled with excitement and joy as students, families and DCS staff sang together as a community. 

Our worship began with "As the World Shakes," a song that reminds us of the unchanging nature of God amidst life's uncertainties. Following this, students were introduced to "Unshakeable," a song that celebrates the unwavering strength we find in our faith. It also speaks into the 2024 DCS theme of "Unshakeable". We then ended with "Let's Go" which was the DCS theme song for 2023.

Interviews

Parent partnership at DCS is truly valued and one of the pivotal steps we take to ensure a successful collaboration is through our "Getting to Know Your Child" interviews. These interviews took place last week and they serve as a platform for parents and teachers to establish open lines of communication and share insights.

It was wonderful for the DCS team to meet with so many families last week and to hear how their child has commenced the year. The discussions provided the opportunity for parents to provide valuable insights into their child's personality, interests and any specific needs. These conversations enable teachers to tailor their approach to better meet the individual needs of each student. 

Please continue to keep your child's teacher updated with how they are progressing throughout the year. The DCS team love hearing from parents and are here to support each family.

Primary Athletics Carnival

The Primary Athletics Carnival is next week! The Don Oval (which is directly beside our school STEM Centre and Secondary basketball court) will be transformed into a vibrant arena where budding athletes showcase their skills and sportsmanship. The Primary Athletics Carnival isn't just about winning ribbons; it's a celebration of every child's effort, dedication, passion for sports and team spirit. 

From sprinting to distance, shot-put to turbo javelin, our carnival offers a diverse range of events tailored to accommodate various interests and abilities. Whether your child is a seasoned sprinter or a newcomer eager to explore new avenues, there's something for everyone to participate in and enjoy.

As parents, your support plays a crucial role in making the Athletics Carnival a memorable experience for your child. Whether it's cheering from the sidelines, volunteering as a helper, or simply offering words of encouragement, your involvement goes a long way in nurturing their confidence and enthusiasm for sports.

Prep Rest Days

To assist our Prep students make the transition from part-time to full-time schooling, Prep students will not attend on the following days: 

Wednesday 6th March

Wednesday 13th March

Prep students will commence full-time from Monday 18th March 2024.

Prep students will attend next Wednesday 28th February for our Athletics Carnival.
