GOVERNING COUNCIL AGM

T1 2024

Friday 8th MARCH 1pm in the Penney Space

Joining Governing Council provides both short- and long-term benefits for your child’s school years at HEPS. It gives you the opportunity to be involved on a parent level in many aspects of your child’s and the wider school priorities.

You will have the opportunity to:

  • Be involved in big and small decisions shaping your child’s overall school experience.
  • Help shape the memorable parts of their school years such as special days, event stalls, discos etc
  • Provide input on decisions around school and yard upgrades, budgets and funding.
  • Learn more about the day to day running of the school, how the school operates and provide feedback about relevant whole school policies.
  • Governing Council members also form committees that do an amazing job to support Fundraising, Sports, School Promotions and Grounds improvement.

You will also have the opportunity to join sub-committees to help make a difference. For example, school fundraising which raises funds through special days such as Crazy Hair, Colour Fun Run and BBQ lunch days. Funds raised go back to our school to support beneficial incursions, excursions and camps. With parent volunteers our children are able to independently shop at our Mother’s, Father’s Day and Christmas Stalls. Past fundraising events have raised monies to upgrade our play spaces and to subsidise costly excursion experiences.

Your commitment would mean attending a meeting twice per term (one will be during the school day and one will be in the early evening), volunteering on one of the sub-committees that meet as negotiated and volunteering where you can on stalls and whole school events such as Concert night.

The AGM will be held on FRIDAY 8TH MARCH at 1pm in the Penney Space to elect the Council members and then followed immediately by the first meeting with the newly elected council members.

If you are interested in being a member of the Governing Council we look forward to seeing you at this meeting, or please contact Sally Slattery - Principal or Mena Collinson - Current Governing Council Chairperson to express your interest/ask any questions if you are unable to attend at this time OR register your interest via the following QR code or this LINK - Governing Council/Volunteer Registration of Interest

PLEASE NOTE – you DO NOT have to be a member of Governing Council to volunteer with school special events such as stalls, Concert evening, Fundraising events, Canteen pick ups, BBQ’s etc. More volunteers help to spread the load in everyone’s busy lives!!

Throughout the year we will post on the School Facebook page for additional volunteers and look forward to your support with these events.
