Second Hand Uniform Sale

Here at Valkstone, we greatly appreciate the donations of second-hand uniform that we have received. We offer these uniform items at a low price to our families, which I know has been especially appreciated with the cost of living constantly increasing!

A HUGE thank you to Emma Reed and her band of helpers, who raised $535.70 for the school at our most recent uniform sale - this money is a welcome start to our 2024 fundraising efforts!

NAPLAN starting soon

I would like to send out my best wishes to all of our Year 3 and Year 5 students who will be starting NAPLAN next week. 

The NAPLAN (National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy) is an important educational initiative in Australia designed to assess and monitor the progress of students in key areas of literacy and numeracy. Administered annually for students in Years 3, 5, 7, and 9, the NAPLAN tests provide valuable insights into individual and collective student performance, helping educators identify strengths and areas that may need improvement. The assessments cover reading, writing, language conventions, and numeracy, offering a comprehensive snapshot of a student's skills and knowledge. The information derived from NAPLAN assessments aids in enhancing the overall quality of education across the nation.

HOWEVER...

It's crucial to understand that NAPLAN is just one aspect of a student's academic journey and does not define their overall capabilities or potential. The assessments are designed to gauge a range of skills and knowledge, providing valuable insights for improvement rather than creating undue pressure. Emphasize to your child that these tests are an opportunity to showcase what they have learned and identify areas for growth. It's essential to maintain a positive mindset, reminding them that success is a journey with ups and downs. Schools use NAPLAN results to tailor support and enhance teaching methods, ensuring that each student receives the help they need.
