STEM

Learning for this Term

The Grade One and Two students  have been exploring biology. Last week they focused on the parts of plants and their function. This week they will be learning about the needs of plants. To explore the needs of plants students will be planting vegetable seeds and watching them grow.

Our STEM Extension program kicked off last week. Students in this group are going to design and make a birdhouse. This week we have focused on learning how to use tools, such as hammers and saws.

Nude Food Friday

On Friday Miss Middlin will be running a Nude Food competition. This competition is aiming to promote sustainability across the school. Nude Food is simply food that is not wrapped in foil, plastic or commercial packaging.

On Friday selected students will be allocated a time to survey classes to see how many have brought Nude Food to school. The class with the most students with the most Nude Food will receive the Nude Food Medal for the week. This week’s winners will be announced in next week’s newsletter so stay tuned!

Every fortnight we will be having a STEM question for students to answer. The questions will be posted in the school's newsletter. These questions will not be compulsory, but will be a bit of fun and a challenge for students. Students can write their answer on a piece of paper and place it in the appropriate box inside the STEM room.

At the end of the week Miss Middlin will do a lucky dip and select one student from Prep- 2 will receive a small science related prize. This week’s question is found below.
