Middle SS News

Sarah Hill

This week we welcome the wonderful Melissa into Room 18- please give her a very big, warm ‘hello’ when you see her! Melissa will be joining Sinead and Kathy in what we know to be a very settled group of students in Room 18. From a solo transition week to now, Melissa , I’m sure you are entering the week happy, knowing that you have a wonderful full team!

We are more than half way through the term and I am hopeful you are feeling that you are in a groove. Weekly planners are generally being uploaded routinely and other documentation in a timely manner, so well done!

JSA Banner

A reminder that Julie is in the process of updating the JSA banner. Each classroom needs to send one representative to participate in this. Please do so ASAP if you haven’t done so already.

OHS Representative

If you are interested in representing the MSS at OH&S, please let me know ASAP. The first meeting is this Wednesday at 3:30pm.

Nuggets of Goodness

Here are some little nuggets of goodness that I have spotted this week. A reminder that focusing on what you are grateful for, or ‘the good’ can have a significant impact on the way you view your day!

Room 10: There have been a team of teachers, aides, LS’s, OHS reps, maintenance and therapy staff supporting the creation of a risk management plan for Valentino. Thank you to all involved! Your commitment, perseverance and hard work does not go unnoticed.

Room 11: An array of students in Room 11 and 12 increasing dual enrolment hours, or commencing new dual enrolments. Our students are growing, learning and extending themselves. Thank you Amanda for her work in this space.

Michelle, feedback from staff stepping into your room is that you always make them feel welcome- this is definitely something to celebrate.

Room 12: Maddison is now no longer on 1-1 support. Well done to Maddison and the Room 12 Team for the way they have supported Maddison, and other students to become more independent!

Room 13: Maryam is one of many students settled and engaged in work tasks, particularly in the mornings. Maryam particularly is developing some wonderful relationships with staff in the room.

Room 14: Room 14, the way you are supporting Nusayba to remain in the classroom, engaged in learning and supported by her peers!

Room 15: The lovely interactions I’ve witnessed between Imogen, Saundrei and the Room 15 team. It is so nice to see Saundrei more frequently communicating his needs.

Room 16: Maha, the extent to which you know your students is admirable. Your contributions to discussions around supporting student needs, your insight and consideration of modifications is simply wonderful.

Room 17: Fatima and Mary Jane, you have worked so cohesively to address the needs of students in your room. The way you have adapted your program to ensure students needs are met and validated is wonderful to see- even in just the simply tweaks to Morning Circle. Music, no music, each student has their own plan.

Room 18: Tristan has increased his time fraction by 30 minutes and is transitioning back into the classroom after playtime. Most importantly, he is ever so smiley and positive!

Admin Staff: You have a plethora of jobs, one being to send out staff for emergencies. After communicating the need to send two staff for a particular emergency you have enacted this straight away with no hesitation. Thank you!

There are a hundred and one other items I could add to the above list of ‘nuggets’ which is a testament to the work you’re doing. Keep finding and celebrating these. If you have any you’d like for me to share next week- email these through!

Have a wonderful week MSS!
