Wellbeing & Engagement

Today is a great day to be you!

Welcome back for 2025!

We have had a wonderful start to the new school year - it has been so great welcoming back all of our students and Rangeview families.

Teachers and students are working through our Rangeview 'Start Up Program' - lots of team building activities, a focus on relationships and engagement, and setting up class routines and agreements. This groundwork is so important to ensure standards are set early and the year runs smoothly for everyone.

We are once again looking forward to some amazing events over the year. We've already had our House Swimming Carnival, and soon the Year 6s will be off on camp - one I'm very pleased I'll be attending with them.

We are looking forward to our students continue to try their best, take risks, support each other, achieve, make the most of every opportunity - and always show our values of resilience, respect and kindness.

The Resilience Project

We continue to partner with TRP, using the program as the key component of our whole school wellbeing approach. Students have already begun TRP lessons in classrooms and it has been great to visit to see this in action.

A reminder that the key pillars are:

  • Gratitude
  • Empathy
  • Mindfulness

Across Term 1, we will have a strong focus on gratitude. GEM awards will return at assemblies and we will celebrate catching those genuine moments of gratitude. We encourage you to speak to your children at home about 'appreciating what we have, and not worrying about the things we don't have'.

In further news, we have been chosen to be part of the 'Victorian Resilience Network'. This will be a network of schools who have shown significant strengths in running TRP within their schools - it's great recognition of what we are doing at Rangeview. We will have an opportunity to share our practices with other schools who are just beginning their TRP journey and celebrate all that we are doing, whilst supporting and helping others.

Resilience, Rights and Respectful Relationships

Rangeview remains a lead school for the 4Rs this year and we are looking forward to working in this space with fellow schools in our network. The curriculum has been updated for 2025 and we are excited to explore new content with our staff and students - with the key message in all teaching and learning on how to show respect at all times in all relationships.

Across the year, lessons from the 4Rs will be integrated within our wellbeing program, running alongside TRP and Cyber Safety. The school will also participate in Community of Practice sessions with other schools, sharing and developing ideas together to ensure respectful relationships are promoted and maintained in all schools.

Cyber Safety Project

Being safe online is another vital component to an individual's wellbeing. We will utilise the Cyber Safety Project curriculum to teach our students about conduct online. Given the prevalence of technology in our students' lives these days, it is so important for them to learn how to use devices safely.

Next Tuesday 11th February is 'Safer Internet Day'. This year the theme was 'connect.reflect.protect' - and as the theme suggests, the learning centred around reflecting on our online practices and ensuring we are doing our best to remain protected from any threats or potential harm online.

More information can be found at the Safer Internet Day website here.

Random Act of Kindness Day

On Monday February 17th we will celebrate 'Random Act of Kindness' day - sharing the important message of making kindness the norm

The Random Act of Kindness website has some great resources and ideas, and obviously with kindness being one of our new school values, it links closely to a value we hold very dear at Rangeview.

We encourage you to perform a random act of kindness for someone else on this day - or any day - to help model to our students  that kindness should be the norm.

Peaceful Kids Program

Natalie Powell, our school social worker, will continue in her role this year (on Wednesdays and Thursdays) providing extra support to our students and staff.

This year, a key focus is on all of our Year 3 students participating in the Peaceful Kids Program. Natalie has run this program for many years at Rangeview and will work with the entire Year 3 cohort in small groups across the 2025 school year.

The Peaceful Kids Program links closely to the work we are doing with The Resilience Project - it has a strong focus on Positive Psychology and Mindfulness strategies to help students manage emotions effectively.

Year 3 families will receive more information about this program early next week.

We are very proud of the overall Wellbeing program we are able to offer our students!

Student Leadership Team

With every new school year comes new leadership opportunities for all of our students. As always, we have our formally recognised student leadership team, which consists of 32 highly capable role models who are going to set a wonderful example for others across the school this year. Last Monday, we held our formal badge presentation for our new 2025 student leaders in our whole school assembly.

We have already started our weekly student leadership meetings, which will be held every Friday morning before school in the library. As a school, we can't wait to see the amazing things these wonderful young adults achieve across the year for the school.

RAFT Camp Out

More information about this event will come over the next few weeks, but for now - please save the date if you and your family are interested.

The annual RAFT (RAngeview Fathering Tribe) Camp Out will be held on Saturday March 15th on the school oval. This is an inclusive event that is open to all family members to attend.

If you are interested in joining RAFT or even just finding out some more about the group, please contact me at the school.
