Principal's News
We wish you a Merry Christmas everyone.
Thanks for your support throughout the year. There are often challenges along the path, but during these challenges, great results can be achieved when the school and the family work in one direction, which has happened so many times this year. Thanks to all families for entrusting your precious children to us each day.
Congratulations to our graduates, who each leave their own mark on our school.
So to: Alliana, Nicky, Emil, Ahjay, Henry, Ayedeen, Deborah, Mara, Tishayini Dannon, Rudy and Noah, congratulations and we wish you all the best on the next step.
It is important as parents to reflect on the time when we were 12 and the challenges those transitions and years bring. Peers and their acceptance tend to trump everything. We want to challenge anyone with authority. This is normal but make boundaries set with warmth even more important. Stretching these boundaries can also bring great memories. When we grew up, we had the world more curated for us. Now with Social Media, these kid's idols come and go quick (look up 'Ishowspeed' as an example) and can often bring what we see as challenging messages. This is why it is important for us to reflect, perhaps some of the music and movies we loved gave challenging messages, but also helped us get through in some ways, as did positive relationships with our friends and unconditional love of those closest to us.
One thing is for sure, if these students can know what they are good at and what they like, they are on the path to a fulfilling future.
Last Sunday was Joy Sunday in the Catholic Church. The church teaches a joy that is not fleeting or momentary, which marketing tells us new clothes or toys bring. (As a parent, my son is always trying to convince me of it!) This joy is sustained, only through deep relationships, which for Catholics is through our relationship with God and can be found in the relationship with those closest to us. I hope these holidays deepen that joy!
We look forward to seeing everyone back on the first day of school Wednesday 29th January and Preps on 30th January. Please click the link below to have a summary of dates for 2025.
